French coach in World Cup

Did anyone see the World Cup final today (in which Italy beat France in double overtime...I think that's what it's called; my Spanish is a little rusty...and how did it happen that ESPN was broadcasting Spanish-language coverage for a game between France and Italy taking place in Germany (I think it was in Germany)?)? My question is about the French coach, who looked excellent I thought:

What the heck kind of get-up was that exactly? First off his tie was maybe down to his belly-button at most, more like sternum; it was also wide with a square bottom I think. Then his shirt had a wing collar I think, like you'd expect on a tuxedo shirt. He was not wearing a suit, rather slacks and a single-breasted/double-vented sportcoat (I think it was SB). If anyone saw it or knows what I'm talking about, is that just the coach's own particular thing or is there a name, aside from the obvious, for the elements he donned, either by themselves or as an ensemble?

Not only did he look good, but right after the last kick went out, he was seen running after the winning team's coach to give him a hug. Talk about sportsmanship.

I don't think the tie had a square bottom. I think you saw what I saw an illusion of the pass around his neck

Cocktails during the game is exactly right! That's too funny--he had a badge or card or whatever stuck in his belt, making the tie appear square bottomed to the drunken. And the thing around his shoulders covering his collar slightly! Thank you, thank you, sincerely. This makes so much more sense now.

I think that the suit is so ill fitting that it must be owned by the French Football Federation and passed along from coach to coach. I hope that it fits his successor better. I'm not sure that the shirt originally belonged to him either.

All in all, it was an exciting game. Buffon had a tremendous tournament. I was so tired of hearing about how wonderful Zidane is that I was relieved when he was red carded.

O'Brien and Balboa were terrible. Next time, ABC should use announcers with a lot of experience - not baseball guys or inexperienced ex-players.

I like the ticket pocket. That's very stylish. Looks like he could use a bit of a shoulder enhancement; a little padding. All in all, he is a dashing individual. I give him credit.

Domenech was rather stylish - didja see his specs?

:eek:fftopic: It is a shame that yer man made a comment to Zizou at the very end. If someone would've made a comment about me mum (as is rumoured to have happened) I probably would've done the same.

In any event, the Italians looked better than the French side for most of the match, and deserved to win.

I like Zidane, I think he's a tremendous player and it is a shame that the altercation happened - but that is life (and football). In any event, I don't think the French would've won (although we were rooting for them) when it came to penalties, as Buffon would've had the edge compared to wee Barthez.

Just my opinion!

Zidane = tremendous. Played very very well against brazil.

He's 34 years old, and has been playing professional football at the highest level for the past 15 or so. He is an Algerian who lived in France for a time. Believe me, he's heard all the insults under the sun (good God, play sunday league kick around football in Britain and you'll hear all the insults under the sun). There is no reason for him to react to anything that was said.

I'm going to go with Brando-esque nihilism as the reason for his "madness". Destroy the ZiZou legend in one moment ...
