I borrowed two Centinela from my friends
both of them are size 44, one is 2018, the other is 2019
to clarify, the one I wear mask is 2019 ver, without mask is 2018.
the first one is 2019, with back painting of Marilyn Monroe

the measurement of both centinela is almost the same
115chest, 50shoulder, 68sleeve, 62 body length
I am 180cm height,80 kg weight, 103 chest, 51 shoulder
in fact, i like my fit in 2019 ver, (as i heard that they do change a bit on the hide starting 2019 on centinela)
I do feel hide of 2019 is harder, when i put on its rather tight on the body and the sleeve, and incomfortable on the cuff, because it is too hard, and I cannot wear a watch with this jacket. And there is not much space in the body, I do think the fitting is rather smart on 2019 ver.

As for 2018 ver which is quite the opposite, its soft, (not due to pre-break in by my friend), the whole jacket is soft and comfortable, the touch i feel resembles with sticky rice. In this time my wrist is rather comfortable, but it turns out too large for me. And this oversize wearing better happens with A-2 jacket, not moto leather jacket

And the tricky thing is, I found the hide of 2018 ver centinela is quite similar to that of my 2020 ver mulholland (sticky rice type), and 2019 ver centinela resembles with my 2019 mulholland and 2019 la brea ( la brea is the thickest, but all of them are hard in comparison). As centinela comes back in 2021, I am not sure which hide would they apply to the new centinela, which is very insteresting. (it could be completely random move, or it could be design deliberately, shinny hard, or comfortable soft in turns)

And as i take a deep look in Momoa's centinela, I think he is wearing a loose fit jacket, due to the long sleeve and some space on the chest, that should be of his request for both cycling and daily use.

Forgot to mention, centinela 42 is around 106 chest, which would be too tight for me, both the chest and the sleeve. And I would sacrifice little good-liking for my comfort. Showing off a leather jacket is only part of the journey. The personal feeling is the most important of all.
Anyway, I may receive a size 42 centinela to try next week, if I do, I may post some new pics then.

you like to wear your jacket on looser fit I take it. looks cool if you like the fit :)
I think you can fit into 1 size smaller for sure, 2 size smaller maybe, tight around the chest is probably just a feel you are not familiar with since you wear your jacket big. but it is a style choice looks cool on you matching with the way you style the pants too.

thanks, indeed I do prefer not-too-tight fit, as I dont ride. I have tried smaller size for real McCoy's j100 before, it looks smart, but super tight, I can barely rise my arm, which is rather impractical to me.
And the pants is breeches, also from Freewheelers.

I like your boots. And Marilyn painting looks nice. As for Momoa, it's all his stylists choice. Just a bunch of super expensive things mashed together at random. Wouldn't be taking that guy as an inspiration, TBH.

As for the jacket... I've no clue, anymore. I guess I just don't particularly like the way it fits but I guess it's part of the package so it's how it is. What I said earlier, without all the fancy details, it kind of having this sort of silhouette going on that I personally am not too fond of but again, if it's intended, all good.

In fairness, I think Jason Momoa does have some level of real interest in this stuff. He went to the last Inspiration and bought some stuff. It wasn't his stylist going- the dude was there himself.

However, I agree that he's not exactly a style icon. It is a bit of stuff just thrown together. Should I be trying to get into as good of shape as him? Yes. Should I want to dress like him? Absolutely not.

You're right. I recalled as I posted that he's supposedly insisted he wore that retro stuff for Aquaman film so yeah... I'm off on that remark but it's just that, sometimes the stuff he wears just looks off and fake and brand new but sometimes it works just fine. I guess he's trying out new things like we do here. Can't win 'em all.

I mean, if his Centinela had fit better, then I think we would be singing a different tune.

i agree that it is a bit large, my friend with 108 109 chest would completely fill out the jacket, so there is 5cm gap for me to work out. I do prefer centinela 44 than la brea 42 because it has a smaller waist hem. I have to tighten the belt of labrea to the tightest. And my friend with 99 chest told me that he cannot make it with centinela 42, it is really puzzling for me. Let see if i can get the 42 centinela and have a try then.

That’s a badass jacket in any size @puiyc1203, good on you:D

It’s interesting to hear that the hides are different feeling. Do you think it has anything to do with age/wear, or is it the hides themselves?

I think it is the hide themselves, in this pic, from left to right mulholland, la brea, centinela. the hide of la brea is different from that of mulholland and centinela. I personally think both of them are fantastic. but I think the trend of fw would approach easy-to-wear, which means soft and comfort. Because leather jacket of fw is not 100% built for bike riding protection. Fashion, style, layering are also important factors. In fact, my friends with fw wear cheap, thick, stiff leather jackets for riding instead.

This might be controversial to say out loud here on TFL, but I wasn't that impressed by the leather of the FW jackets I've seen. Definitely nice but I was expecting something spectacular, which to me they weren't. It's probably just personal preference but I like the leather on my black ELMC Californian beter for instance.

I agree. There are some Italian HH veg tan leathers that imho have nothing to envy to Shinki. Don’t get me wrong though I still think the Shinki HH on my Rainbow Country is the best looking hide I’ve handled but the Liberty HH on the BK is not that far off and depending on the batch i guess it can even be better than some Shinki I’ve seen. I never handled Eastman HH myself but not sure what it lacks compared to Shinki. Looks pretty nice. So yes most Shinki is very very good but there are other options equally nice that don’t command that price tag.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and different people prefer different fits but as far as the cheapo comparison I don’t know what’s the point of it... you could find a crappy jacket in any sort of fit these days right?

£90 real skin from Amazon. Trim and tight if that’s your idea of perfect fit.

shinki has coating on the hide to make it looks bright, oily and cover the unnecessary grain. It happens with victory horsehide too. My bill kelso durable one star used liberty horsehide, and with no coating, it feels like cowhide in fact. As for eastman, their Vintage horsehide is more creasy and wrinkly intentionally, but they do have coating on the surface of the hide. Becase they do the back painting, protection coating is needed, also to make it look oily too.
Also the price gap would tell the difference, between victory and liberty, and major customer preference too. At least it is more shinny under the light.

The thing that jumps out to me on these jackets (and I've never seen the jacket until this thread) is how baggy the upper arms appear. Jason Mamoa is a big guy with big arms and those sleeves dwarf him. Not a good pattern IMO.
