Where the Lounge hails from.

These figures are for the last thirty days. The trend is increasing international membership, too. If it continues at its current rate, we'll reach parity between the US/Rest of the world sometime in the next two years.

1. United States 63.56%
2. United Kingdom 11.78%
3. Canada 4.28%
4. Australia 2.91%

6. France 1.62%
7. Netherlands 0.99%
8. Japan 0.88%
9. Spain 0.83%
10. Belgium 0.77%

So hoping for the favicon to be visible in IE as it is in Firefox is not too much of a fringe request.

That's not it at all. It is a problem with your personal computer. The file on our server is the one with the hat. The old blue widget is gone.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of the blue one and get the old one back (on my computer)? I tried deleting cookies, and I also logged-out, closed IE and then restarted IE. Still get the blue thing.

It's not in the cookies, it's in the Temporary Internet Files cache. Try deleting that, and possibly browsing history for good measure, and that should restore it. It did for me.

I deleted temporary internet files, logged out of FL, and even changed my settings so FL was not my homepage. Then rebooted. Still got the blue thing.
What is the actual name of the blue thing, so I can do a search for it and manually delete it?

Thanks

The name of the icon is favicon.ico, but there's going to be tons of them. Look here: C:\Documents and Settings\LibraryUser\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Found it. When I tried to delete it, I got:
ErrorMessage.png

Interpreting that is way beyond my skill set ...

Follow-up - He's there! Even with the above error message (along with the fact I could still see the blue favicon file), I now have the old favicon back!

I am afraid to ask how/why. No sence checking out the teeth of a gift horse.

I have nothing against ads as I know they help to pay for our favorite joint, but is there a way to make them less invasive? the hat people add and the Joseph Bank/J Peterman are so "in your face" that's just a bit distasteful.

This is what I'm talking about. Not only the facebook thing is on the way but the Joseph Bank add blocks a lot of my stuff. Any way you guys can move it a little bit so it sits on top right above the search bar?

It should be sitting below the Lounge banner. Might be due to how high your resolution is. I'll see if I can get it to stay under it.

Slightly lower but still there. Take a look. should I delete cookies and stuff to get it in the new position? my screen resolution is 1600x900

The problem is that different browsers have different CSS parsers implemented. It's stupid but true. CSS parsers should conform to certain standards but they don't. That's why there have always been CSS hacks for different browsers. Annoying little workarounds. IE reads a markup and interprets it this way, Firefox sees it that way and Safari might have a different opinion altogether (granted, the fault usually lies with IE here - Microsoft has a long tradition of not adhering to official standards...file under Browser War). Spatial resolution is also a problem. Try to stick with the latest browser versions.

one possible thing to try......if you are using IE 8...

up in the address bar..just to the right of the end of the address is a little icon that looks like a torn sheet of paper....Compatability view...

Its worth clicking it and seeing if that fixes some of the issues. It's site specific, so would not change browsing for other sites at all.

But I also agree with Mario....getting IE to display things the way other browsers do is somewhat farfetched....especially when one tweaks things like resolution for various screens etc....
