Ladies and Gents I am offering for sale my goatskin Perry 23377.

This is an example of the smaller, earlier A-2 contract originally produced by Perry Sportswear in russet goatskin and a dull orange lining with dull brown threads. The pattern has the characteristic rounded collar with ball stud snaps and collar stand.

The pocket body has square re-enforcing stitching and the subtle curved flap and (John Chapman comments that no Perry that he has seen has had a pocket tag), in common with many Perry jackets the goatskin of the wind flap is built in three sections, rather than one (and bears an AAF stamp).

This example underwent a factory refurbishment during service and was resprayed dark seal (which has worn through evenly to patinate well and reveal the russet below).

The shell is strong and sturdy (a good daily wearer) with no holes or tears and just some evidence of minor strap wear to the upper left shoulder (forward of the epaulette) and to the upper left sleeve - suggesting abrasion on the cockpit bulkhead? This is just surface wear (abraiding some of the pebbly skin) and the underlying skin is strong, supple and unholed.

The goatskin drapes well and is well defined - the grain to the lower rear of the jacket is incredibly strong - with large pebbled areas (unlike the goatskin used in many modern repros.).

The knits and waistband (mid brown) are period original and were recently darned by Aero so no mothing nips are apparent.

The dull orange lining, the collar and the armpits are clean and unstained with an inspector's stamp

and the jacket has a clean smell). There is some wear to the lining on the collar stand but the older repair stitching is strong and Aero have restitched some of the worn areas. All studs, poppers, labels, hanger, etc. are complete.
Some restitching towards the edge of the lining suggests that the zip (a double marked Talon rather than a Conmar or Crown) has been replaced in the past (much older work) but the original stitch holes in the leather were used. The zip works smoothly and easily - there is no separation in zip/tape and all teeth are present.

John Chapman comments that this pattern looks classy and is easy to wear, having larger shoulders and a roomy torso. The arm ends are slender giving a neat silhouette.
