Purchased new by me and rarely worn ( I have an Optimo Melusine in a similar color that I prefer ). This was one of Art's limited edition prototypes: the underbrim is a black color and of a different material which shows several small bubbles... which do not affect the look of the hat... when the brim is snapped down. Hat is in great and like new condition, and showcases Art's great ribbon work. I own several high-end hats that I wear most often, yet this one receives as many compliments. Size 7 3/8 and comes with Optimo hatbox in perfect condition; price of $210 includes shipping.

Thanks Bowen. I have a decidedly small but high quality collection of about a dozen hats including a Montecristi Custom Hat Works Panama ($1200 new), a Melusine (long hair beaver) Optimo ($800 new), the "Italians": Borsalino, Panizza, and a couple of made-in-Italy Stetson boaters, three O'Farrell Western hats from the early-mid 90's (when Kevin O'Farrell was "king"...they were $800 and upwards twenty-five years ago!). STILL...I get more compliments on this Art Fawcett than any of the others the few times that I've worn it. I'm starting up a new hobby and selling a few of this' and thats' to finance the project. Wife wants me to keep the hats (two for sale), knowing that I hand-selected them for a reason. Someone is going to get a beautiful Art Fawcett; sorry it does not fit Bowen!

How wide is the brim and how tall is the crown?
On the wine-colored Art Fawcett fedora: 5 1/4" crown height and 2 1/4" brim width. The flecked finish Optimo looks just as Graham wanted it to look ( more hipster than Edward G. Robinson ): 4 1/2" crown height and 2 1/8 " brim width. The latter fedora surprised me as I come from a background of first collecting Western hats, with their 6 1/2" crown heights and 4 1/2" brim widths not uncommon. As recently as a year ago I was well above my weight recommendation...well above! Somehow the Rush Street ended up looking great on me, round face and all (yeah I can laugh at myself). Unlike Art, Graham Thompson of Optimo prefers to design shorter crown height hats.
