Does anyone have experience with Nick's "Max Wedge" soles? They claim high durability, but I don't see how. I have yet to handle them in person, so perhaps I'm missing something.

Zerrows flat toe last Engineer Boots in natural CXL. My wife thinks I've got cowboy boots and seems to be suitably impressed. I wish the wait time for Zerrows stuff wasn't 12-18 months because I'd order something from them in a heartbeat - the easiest to get on / off and still best fitting engineers Ive come across.

Those boots are fantastic with the black sole.

Thank you! Yes, the looks of the black commando sole is what pushed me over the edge.

The Moc Toe is very popular in the urban centres of my region, and somehow I didn’t want to completely blend into the crowd (middle-aged, middle-fit, middle-class guys, supporting the local football club, believing life gets more meaningful if you don’t wash your selvedge denims…).

I like those a lot! Same leather as what I’m wearing today.

They do look like a narrow instep, but they are actually a lot easier to get on and off than the Lofgrens I had (partially because of the straps at the back) , but fit so much better. The Lofgrens I had to size up in to get on, but once I had them I was swimming in them - even insoles couldnt help me. These by way of comparison fit just like any other proper fitting footwear with no adjustments or insoles necessary - I dont even have to do the straps up and just leave them on the loosest hole.

Last item from my most recent shopping spree.

Workboot from Schuh-Bertl out of Munich. Incredibly sturdy, double-welted construction. Leather is 3mm cowhide, tanned to make it extra durable ("Juchtenleder"). These are tough to break in, yet the boots are unbelievably comfortable (to my feet).
Really well thought-through details, such us three pairs of speed-hooks starting near the toes to make entry/exit as easy as possible and a fixed but very flexible tongue that doesn´t slip to the side.

Nice booklet to explain the bells and whistles. These guys did not jump on the vintage-train, they have been there upon its departure... ;). Price is 30% of what a Viberg costs over here.

My very first pair of barefoot shoes. I haven't liked the look of these so far, but I think the moc is great. They remind me of my real mocassins from the past.

Are you sure about this?

Barefoot shoes have always been one step away from these...
