Exactly! Everything is repurposed to some degree, but I think that's actually a great thing overall. What an interesting turn to the conversation!
I’m actually struggling to think of ANY casual clothing item that hasn’t been repurposed to some degree.
Engineer boots from well engineers, converse sneakers etc from basketball and skateboarders (I think), gym shoes from the gym obviously.
On the pants, jeans were workwear, khaki/chinos were military pants from India I believe.
Various jackets from either motorcycle or military/aviation beginnings.
Hell even the humble T-shirt used to be underwear.....does that mean everyone is just wearing a costume of sorts to some degree???

In winter I wear flannel pajamas and a silk robe any time of day like I'm channeling Hugh Hefner AND Leslie Phillips at the same time. In summer I go for a linen yukata. Always gives postie a surprise when they bring a delivery for me.
Please Big J, don't post any fit pics with you actual face. I want to always think of you as your avatar.

Your kids probably transferred your bitcoin into gold, and have an account in Panama. Not much chance of any pics until I get the tapatalk app or something. And I'm a complete Luddite. I tried cashing out of Bitcoin on and off most days last week and couldn't get it to work until one of my kids came home and did it for me. I was a bit annoyed because it was meant to be my secret stash.
Henry David Thoreau once said: “It is an interesting question how far men would retain their relative rank if they were divested of their clothes”@jonesy86, 'transferred' into handbags and shoes is more likely.
I agree with you and ProteinNerd, it's fascinating about the functions of clothes. I think Edward knows a fair bit about this.
Gotta match the belt too.I always go with brown boots and brown jacket. Black boots with black jacket. Luckily, I only have one black leather jacket, a Vanson PLU-3 that I ride with. Most of the time I wear Clarks chukkas or Alden 405s with my Aero Half-belt, A-2 or G-1 jackets.
Well GQ seems to think that it is not so important to match your belt with your shoes anymore. And I have always tried to keep up with GQ....not. I used to wear black work shoes with white socks. The horror. I'm outdated. Still, i'm not going to wear an orange belt with anything.heheh lucky I love canvass belt, one less factor for matchy matchy... but I somehow see if your brown is light or medium, it would match with black no problem, as long as there is another clothes in the same color with one of the leather item, for example:
black pants + black leather jacket + whatever t-shirt + mid brown leather shoes
or
mid brown leather jacket +grey/black shirt + black pants + black leather shoes
both seem fine to me
the problem is where you wear blue jeans + whatever shirt (patterned or other colors) + leather jacket + leather shoes + leather belt
then the leather jacket and shoes probably should match if both items are still purely black or brown (when both are already faded, scuffed, etc, then it shouldn't matter), or at least 2 of the 3 leather item should match in color perhaps because natural leather belt probably wouldn't color match with anything, just my own baseless opinion though.
I truly hate boots. It's an odd thing b/c I think they look great, nothing looks better with jeans and a leather jacket imho. I love the look of quality, broken in boots, especially engineers and jump type, lace up boots. I just can't wear them. The feeling of a mid calf enigineer boot is equivalent to rubbing shards of broken glass all over my body and bathing in hot sauce. Despite how cool they look, and they do look cool, the feeling of wearing them for me is unbearable. I also despise a stepped heal. I much prefer flat, wedge type soles. That's why I only wear chukka/ desert boots, when I have to.
I'd love to find a perfect pair of boots one day but I've all but given up on trying.
