Hey ladies,
Some of the boots you've posted are lovely. I wish I could wear fashion boots for Winter. That won't cut it here at sometimes -40 degrees C with lots of snow and ice. I hope to find something practical, yet not too ugly...I can dream right?

I'm keeping an eye on the finances but I really love that second pair. I may have to wait for a sale, as I've just bought the Clarks ones. They do actually look better "in person"; in fact I went into the store to have a look at a dress shoe which was posted on here, saw those boots and it was love at first sight. I think what I liked about them was the round toe, which you don't see too much, and a modest yet elegant heel. In other words, something I can actually walk more than a block in. Plunked down £80 which I really can't afford but I tell myself - read, rationalise - that this will be a winter boot to span the seasons.

The only thing that was on my "wish list for a boot" was that faux fur top...(Why can't somebody manufacture Gaytees as a boot, darn it?!)

Hi ladies,
I haven't bought any Winter boots yet, but picked up some Fall boots. These Dr. Martens that kind of resemble Victorian boots - pretty cute and comfty! They actually look even better in person. ;0

I tried a similar pair on last year, and I couldn't get my foot into them - they were way too narrow across the arch of the foot for me. I was so disappointed! And the guy in the Dr Marten shop said "Yeah, lots of people are saying that", which didn't make me feel better at all.

Honey, they do look steampunk! ;0 The only thing I don't like is the tag sticking out, so I'm going to cut it off.

Puzzicato, I have quite wide feet and somehow got my foot in there...though I had to untie each boot! *lol* Maybe this year's version is a little wider or something. I won't know for sure how they are until I wear them all day...need to treat them first. Here's hoping they work out!

here!
Gaah, I have the same problem- trying to find practical winter footwear to go with elegant, feminin 40s/50s-style clothes is a nightmare!

I recently bought some black leather hobnailish boots that I thought looked kind of authentic. They'll be fine for when it's just cold/wet, but when it gets icy and snowy I'll need something sturdier, as the heel is a little bit high.

I really want some brown sturdy boots, but I'm tempted to just stick with these loafers I already have. Yeah, they won't cover my ankle, and they're not very pretty - plain brown leather with squarish toes - but they're well made and comfy and have a bit of a grip on the sole. They don't really go with my skirts and dresses, I have a couple of pairs of tapered slacks that they look okay with.

Plus, seeing a similar pair in those old ads has made me feel a lot better about them :p

I might have to go and have another try. They are so lovely!

Hi Puzzicato. I'm loving them so much I'm contemplating the plain, matte black ones..or the red ones! When I have some money, after X-mas. I can't believe I wore them the entire work day with no problems or aching feet (and I walk a lot during lunch, and to and from work). Do try them again, maybe they'll work out. ;0

BD, here are the ones I am drooling over, as winter here in Florida means no necessity for boots!
