Flyweight Barbour

I have just seen the new Flyweight contemporary Barbour and I was thinking of purchasing it for the spring/fall here in Washington DC. I was also considering a camel colored waterproof cotton Beaufort. Can someone help me with my decision? I already own a beaufort in olive. Thanks

My advice would be go ahead they are fantastic and will last a lifetime my dads still wears his Barbour that he bought in 1958.

I haven't seen or felt the new flyweight, so I don't know how tough the material is, but I would think it would be fine for city wear. Probably wouldn't want to wear it for use in the country, though. The original material wears like iron.

I was recently looking at the flyweight and regular Internationals. From my understanding of the Barbourf website information, the flyweight version is not designed to take an additional warm liner for colder weather/climate wear, while the regular is. Not sure how far that applies acorss the range, but might be worth bringing into consideration, depending when / where you want to wear the jacket.

Flyweight Barbour is trading on the reputation Barbour built with its original oil finish cotton cloth (Sykoil) and is new so I would say if it fits and you like it, go ahead. I ordered one of the new non-cotton fabric Cowans and didn't like the fabric nor the sizing which is longer by number sizing but S.M.L. XL. I take a Barbour 46 and neither the L or XL fit.-Dick
