If we want to get super anal we can complain that they didn't use real Zeros as was the case in most movies of the era. The AT-6 Texan trainer was used a lot with Japanese hinomarus on the wings. In fact since these were plentiful at the time of Tora, Tora, Tora! they converted many into better sheetmetal copies of Zeros and a couple other Japanese planes.
