Hi there,

I just got the indy expedition jacket from flight suits. The leather is great, but the cut/fit turned to be pretty bad per my criteria.

I ordered my true chest/suit size (i never, ever size up on anything), but the jacket still feels oversized. When i zi[p it up the shoulders protrude about half, perhaps up to an inch past my natural shoulders. Just for the record, i'm pretty proportionate, perhaps a bit slim, but certainly not skinny...
Is this the cut, or did they just mess up their sizing? So i understand that this is supposed to be an 'action/adventura jacket', but still, why ovesize it, *especially* given that it has a pleated back! I personally think it doesn't look too good, esp. in a soft goatskin....

I looked through some pictures from the actual movie, and it seems that even in the movie the shoulders are slightly oversized and hand past Harisson ford's shoulders. Maybe that's how it's suposed to fit, but it's not such a great fit. I've heard that the wested indy jackets are cut slimmer, is that true? (Not that i'm looking for an excuse to buy another jacket. This is my first leather jacket and I really'd like to keep the total number up to 3 - there is a black aero 30's half belt on the way, and then an A-2, and hopefully that will be it. Hopefully)

FlightSuits jackets are cut large, particularly in the chest/shoulders. Folks looking for the trim WWII look in A-2 jackets often need to go down one, or sometimes even two, sizes from their normal size.

I'm not sure about Wested's off-the-rack fit, but their custom jackets fit exactly as you want them - and for an amazingly low price. My custom Wested Raiders fits me better than ANY of my other jackets (FlightSuits, US Authentic, Alpha, etc.)

And re the Indy jacket... even made-to-measure, the sleeves seem long, but that's the jacket design: they are supposed to just hit your upper thumb knuckle when your arms are at your sides.

Have you looked in on Club Obi-Wan (for Indy jackets) or Vintage Leather Jackets (for A-2s, etc.) yet? There's a VAST amount of great info, and EXTREMELY well-informed jacketeers, on both of these forums.

I have had a G&B Expo since Sept, in a 44T goatskin - and it is just an incredible jacket, love it. The smell alone was worth the price, and it is a very, very well made jacket, with stitching guaranteed for life. Highly recommended.

2 things:

#1) you could have ordered one for size, as I did getting a 44R and realizing the sleeves and body were too short

#2) Strange is right, DEFINITELY go to:

http://www.indygear.com/cow/

for more information on the G&B. There is literally hundreds of deep threads re: the Expo.

Just send it back and explain to them where the fit is off. They are fantastic to deal with, my only problem is that I love my Aero Stockman too, and some days I literally cannot decide which to wear.

i have never owned a fs jacket, but i do own a wested & a tony nowak (indyIV jacket maker), & the wested does have a higher armhole. the nowak, becase of the larger armhole, the sleeves ride up on me a good, two to two-and-a-half inches when i am wearing it & driving my truck. it is rather annoying. & i am thinking about seeing if tony can remedy the situation next spring when i might not be wearing it so much.
thanx!!!

Hm, I saw quite a few pictures there and most of the jackets fit (approximately), like mine. The FS cut definitely seems slightly roomier though, meh. I'm not sure I'll grow to like it, but on all pictures I saw, the shoulders droop a bit...
