Mostly @Dav is right. There is obviously a spectrum but for everyone here appearance takes at least a slight edge. Track pants, gym shoes, tee or swearshirt, and a puffer coat are suuuuuuuuuuuper comfortable. If that was noticeably higher on anyones list they would be on a different forum. However, some of us may trend 51% appearance 49% comfort and some 90/10.
Tailored appropriately for age and body type is important.
I’d say i roll 70/30.

I see why you would say this but it's not my experience. I have tried trackpants and gym shoes but never wear them as I don't like how they feel. Mike is onto something in suggesting comfort may also involves weight and other properties.

Flattering look doesn't have to be tight to be flattering. This jerk made me order 8 bootleggers:

Both. I'm a vain old bird, and I won't wear anything the look of which I don't like. Won't even try it on.... so I suppose look comes first. Course, it has to *also* be comfortable for me to wear....

Exactly. I think a lot of it is psychosummatical; I'm as comfortable in a suit as a decent pair of jeans; I hate pretty much all contemporary sportswear. I'm more comfortable in a decent leather brogue than I'd ever be in trainers - indeed, I haven't owned or worn a pair of trainers in probably over a decade now.

I’d feel very uncomfortable showing up at work in track pants but track pants are objectively very comfortable to wear. Aren’t we mixing up things here now?

Lhysical and psychological comfoirt are different, but both important. I would reject the notion, however, that physical comfort is an objective standard. I stopped wearing 'track pants' years before I started to hate the look of them, simply because I never liked the feel of wearing them.

Sweat pants outside your home is not fine, comfort or no. I repeat:

When in doubt, go a bit slack- but never sweat pants. If you're wearing sweat pants outside the apartment, you have gone off the rails in at least one area of life...

Sweat pants outside the apartment mean that you haven't even been bothered to get properly dressed before heading out. If you are ever drunk in sweat pants in the morning and outside you're pretty much climbing into the dumpster.

That would be the photo or phone video that got taken before an intervention- there you are, weaving around at 10 30AM, almost tripping over your own feet, little fella visibly banging around in your sweatpants and everyone slightly too embarrassed to say anything about the two day beard, and you trying to be all good-humoured about it. They're the kind of item that visually preps you for recovery later, but also signal that all the usual voices of reassurance have gone and that assistance will soon be needed.

Yeah the context is leather and denim, if you get to choose between 2 jeans or 2 leather jackets,
not a comparison between leather and knit cardigan:rolleyes:
For this I don’t really understand. A pair of jeans or a jacket cut or sized to be uncomfortable also wouldn’t look good in my opinion. You may be referring to ultra skinny stuff which is the purview of the under 30 set.

Denim jackets like the original Lee Stormrider and the Levi's 70505 has a serious V cut that some people like myself will not be able to button up all the way down to the waist. If I insist on buttoning the bottom one, I would have to go a size up and the shoulder would be too wide and the chest too loose. I find the best size for me is one which let me button the third and fourth button. Of course you can always buy the modern version of the Lee or Levi's which is longer and less V shaped but that is not the same as the original is it?

No i mean straight leg jeans light mid weight vs slim fitting heavy jeans, or leather jacket that is more roomy for extra comfort in lighter softer hide that drapes, compared to jacket that lend it shape to better ours, i like armory feel both in jacket and jeans, to me even when it is not as comfortable but it feels comforting.

Or maybe between 2 sizes one looks sharp on pictures but you obviously feeling reminded of wearing a jacket all day and the other leave more room but look more relaxed made you look slightly fuller, same model same hide both can zip or button up so they both fit, which one you end up with?
