The other day I was driving on Hollywood Blvd right @ the corner of Vine- and I swear I thought I saw a FL- white shirt, fedora, black pants and w & b spectators... hmm....

I was walking down Vine that day, but not in black pants.

Oh golly, please don't take offense. I meant no disrespect., Who might I have insulted, Blacks or whites?[huh] I'm at a loss on this one. Today's PC world and oversensitivity makes saying anything a crap shoot. Somebody is bound to take offence I guess.

None of my black friends would be offended if I said that. But none of them really talk like that either.

I can't say I was "wearing" my hat, but a white shirt, dark blue pants and black & white spectators, carrying a bag and suit jacket, tis was I walking perhaps.

I started at the intersection and crossed to the other end of Vine to walk down it towards Sunset. Does that ring a bell?

As a non-smoker, I wouldn't be offended if someone handed me a book of matches like these while I was wearing vintage clothing; I'd be intriqued and curious. Especially since the Fedora Lounge web address is on the book.

Of course, if a stranger were to hand me a pack of smokes . . . .
. . . I'd wonder if they were laced and I was being set-up for something. lol

I know we have a few loungers in Des Moines...maybe more than a few, if the crowd I played for at Caf?© di Scala and the Art Festival is anything to go by. I was guest clarinetist with the Hot Club of DM June 23 and 29. Especially at di Scala, I saw a good contingent of swing stylin' folks, including a dancerly young lady in a killer red polka dot dress. This ain't the DM I used to visit on weekends as a kid!
