You know Thor, I'd love to see Aero make repros of the USN Transport Coat and the USN shearling jackets.

The WW2 USN had the most astute designers behind their uniforms of any armed service ever.

Should a modern G-1 mil-spec fit better then a M422a? I use between 25 to 26" sleeves jackets and the Cockpit G-1 has larger sleeves. On the other hand, the M422a jackets seem extremely fit in the chest aerea, which isn't actually bad.

I guess it all depends on what you mean by "fit". My late issue Pharr is pretty blousey. I prefer the trimmer G-1s of the 50s-90s. I'm not sure how much roomer the 422As were as the only one I have is a bit big on me overall.

Well the Cockpit G-1 mil-spec USN seems to be quite fitted judging by the photos and dimensions. Not sure what version of the M422a Aero recreates, but I have read its a very fitted design.

I have a Schott G-1 TG and its a classic fit, its a great jacket, but would like something little bit different this time.

Sorry, I haven't had time to post fit photos.
The Aero M442a is correctly very fit around the stomach. I can wear a T-shirt underneath it if I want to zip it, but that's it.
This is the same as LW's Dubow G-1 which is also super trim.
I have an issue Cooper from the 80's (?) which is a size smaller than the Aero and the LW, but it's a looser fit, as are the 70's Imperial Leather and Brill Bros (also all size 48).

The Goat skin Eastman uses is always good, it has got softer straight out then box over recently, but still a lovely grain with a depth of colour to it.

Their 55j14 is based on a L.W Foster jacket, and I think the reason they changed the pocket shape is to replicate that contract closer, as most parts, apart from the zip (should be a blackened conmar) are identical to the Foster. Would be nice if they did and original maker again, as they used to offer their M-422a as a Gordon and Furguson.

Having tried the Cockpit on I can confirm that it is much closer fitting that my Pharr and more like the 90s issue I had.

Interesting that the Aero is slim fitting as well.

Tbh, I have a preference for a jacket that fits well, rather then an exact reproduction that could not fit well, as long as the main details are there.

I used to have the ELC M-422a with the Gordon & Ferguson label. GREAT jacket! Sadly I outgrew it so I sold it afew years ago. Now the new, improved ELC M-422a is on my short list for a new jacket.
