I was wondering what a 1930's cut suit should look like. In my opinion a tapered leg and a bit looser jacket, with the waistcoat snug and 4 pocketed, and no lapels does the trick. I cant post any pictures now because i have no camera, but please feel free to post your ideal of the Golden Era suit.

Late '30s "Fashion Park" suit.

1940-dated "Fashion Park" suit.

The fit was up to personal preference, but most of the time the jacket as well fitted with shape (perhaps even snug) with straight-legged and full cut trousers. You are right about the vest.

You could watch 'Jeeves and Wooster'. (adapted from P.G. Woodhouse's "Jeeves" stories). It is very humorous and I personally find it an excellent show case for 1930s attire, interior, language, buildings and travel.
