I get that and what others are saying about the length, I just felt it needed a little bit more.
I feel the same way about jackets with knit bottoms. Reach for anything and the jacket rides up above the belt and then you feel the chill on your lower back. Jacket tug of war all day long. The only way around it is to make sure you have 4 to 6 inches between you and the belly button area of the jacket whether sitting or standing. Then it doesnt climb up your back all the time.
I like a loose fit in this style. When I'm on the ground checking out the landing gear on my Mooney I need to be able to move and reach the landing gear doors and fittings. This Lost worlds has generous sizing for a 36 and enables me to complete any task without restrictions. Any shorter or tighter and it would be a nuisance.

Hey guys, I have recently sold an M filson jacket I found too large for my liking and replaced it with a brand new size small I managed to grab.
im sharing my experiences because not being able to try one it took some trial and error.
first of all filson enthusiasts seem to have different standards when it comes to fit. They seem to be the type of people who like to wear oversized pieces so I first followed their statments That this model short cruiser runs small by opposed to some other models of the brand.
being 5.10, 165lbs, with a not so wide chest 38 inch and not so broad shoulders 45cm, the M with a 45inch chest was too roomy and didn’t like the drapes it made : few photos there https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/filson-roughout-fit-check.116696/
the sleeves where also too long, it made only sense when I layer a lot but it’s more a piece I intend to wear surin mid season. I’ve already got a schott b3 for winters, or other wool jackets.
so I pulled the trigger and bought a s without trying. At some point I was considering mine tailored but chickened out that I wouldn’t be done right, it was a lot of tailoring To be done.

so here is my new filson worn above a heavy flannel shirt From iron heart.
i can closed it easily and while it’s stiffer than the M one, it feels there is more room for a mid weight hoody.
its more fitted, shorter, I feel true to what a trucker jacket is like.
allow me to share a few pics.
oh and I forgot the chest is 21 inch and a quarter. So on the paper it leaves 42.5 minus 38 = 4.5 inch of room to layer a bit. what do you think of the fit?
donno if this helps anyone. Cheers
That fit looks great to me and I agree that Filson runs big in almost everything they make.
