Fit Check Thread for Jackets

Hi Guys, new here and getting into the world of leather jackets. I just came back from Japan where I bought a Buzz Rickson Roughwear A2 in size 38. I'm about 5'8" fairly slim and 140lbs and I'm wondering if this looks too big? The arms are a bit roomy, torso feels snug when zipped up. My Buzz Rickson peacoat is a 36 that fits really nicely but when I tried on the A2 in size 36 I believe it was a bit too short. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Looking forward to learning

The current RMC house A2 is slim fit. Toys McCoy A2‘s are generally more V shape slim fit too. Rainbow Country A2 is also slimmer fit. Just compared the posted dimensions of the same tag size, the buzz will be one size narrower in the shoulder compared to these three other brands.

However, when it comes to A2 jackets, there is no good or bad fit imo. I had a Dubow repro A2 and it fitted exactly like your Buzz. And I have other contracts that’s literally fit like a wide box with elastic at the bottom. I like them all. A2 is not a cafe racer, as long as it’s comfortable to wear you’re ok.

Depending on the A2, RMC makes a slim A2; as my limited understanding goes, the original A2s and one-to-one replicas are not the slimmest since these A2s are based on a pattern from the 30s-40s.

Edit: Then again, I just purchased a Monarch G-1 from the 50s, and it fits pretty trim.

Yes I've had the slimmer rmc a2. It's still not as slim as other jackets, but yes it's certainly slimmer than most A2 jackets.

@newb yeah a size down probably would be too short on you.

I don't know. I like it because there is room to layer underneath. I think it fits me, but I want to be sure because it's an expensive jacket. I'm mostly concerned about the shoulders, but I think it fits.

I agree with you, it fits. It looks like a winter jacket should and if you can layer, all the better. Too many guys encaged in a too small of an N1 like a sousage. Too many in a too large one also.

My only issue with IH deck jackets was the cuff was too narrow. I have skinny wrists too, but these things always constricted them far too much for my liking.

Can I get a fit check on my Iron Heart Deck jacket?

That looks good to me, I wouldn't want it any tighter.

Alright lads! One of the jackets I want is a crosszip double riders, better with a mouton (Wow, I'm so original!).

I've been eyeing Buyee for a while after @Herrvallmo mentioned it in a private ping about the HR-55 (which I'm happy his would be small or I would be a bit upset now because I would had already bought his in the Classifieds now) and found a Vanson Model E in size 42. I did pay a bit more than expected as I had not taken into account DHL fees (only the import fees), but still I think I got a fair price overall (by no means I think I got a steal anyway).

First row is just a tshirt, second row is a sweater and third row a thick sweater. It's slightly uncomfortable to raise my arms. I'm thinking 44 would had been better? What do you guys think?

PS: Graphic design is my passion.

But if you are finding it uncomfortable moving sizing up maybe would be a good idea

Definitely too small with a jumper. With just the T-shirt I think you would have been better with a size up, but doesn’t look bad either

I agree with @Herrvallmo .
If the jacket isn't at least kinda comfortable to wear, you're probably not going to wear it much. Sizing up might be a good idea.

Indeed, it's comfortable just with a tshirt, but the thicker the jumper, the less comfortable it is. I think I'll keep an eye on a size 44 but still keep it to try once I can actually wear it as it's way too cold now for me now, but I'll see hopefully next week or, worst case scenario, Spring... Plus hopefully I'll have lost the holidays gained weight

I've already pinged Vanson for further details and it turns out it's a 1995 model. I'm shocked how good it looks, I thought it would be from around 2010 given its current status.

PS: My girlfriend liked it except for finding the side strings to be "ugly and gay". Guess I can't refute her.

As a motorcycle jacket it is designed to be the most comfortable when it is zipped and hands are are reaching forward to grip the handlebars. That is the jackets neutral position
When you lower your arms to your side it will pull across the chest and armpit area. And stretching to reach something behind you can be impossible. Looks too small and tight for comfort. I would add at least 1.5" to the sleeves for riding.

I won't ride, I'll just be a poser old metalhead. Though lifting the arms as if riding is fine, lifting the arms above that height isn't that comfy just pulls up the whole jacket. Not like I spend my day lifting my arms like that, but still.

BTW forgot to mention about Buyee, I'm quite happy. I shipped on Jan 4th and got it today, literally 3 days. Perhaps not the best thread to add this, as this one is for fit tho.

Fit check on a couple of leathers

Hey all
I’m starting to get back into leather jackets and would like some opinions on some old “fashion types” and a newer Schott jacket.

1 and 2, is a closed leather shearling type jacket. Not sure if this would be described as a b3 or b6,

3 and 4, is a varsity type jacket from theory

5 and 6 is the Schott 594 jacket.

All of these jackets are in large.

I am looking to sell the shearling and theory jacket to fund an aero leather custom
