Fit check: Hundredth post about Highwayman fit

Hi, before the actual post - maybe there could be a single 'fit check' thread, what do you think?
I just feel guilty of creating yet another thread like that.


Aero Highwayman in black FQHH CXL with flannel lining

Intended wear: warmer days over just a t-shirt/shirt

The jacket feels ok, no too restrictive but there is no space for layering, I have sized down indeed.
I know that it's not recommended - better to get premier highwayman (waiting for one actually) - but I wonder does it really fit that bad?

The back looks fine imho - I was unable to capture a photos though, i will try later today again.

Jeans I am wearing on pics are mid-high rise (IH 888) - the highest rise jeans I have, the belt, if uncovered with shirt, is partially visible - although I quite like this jacket length for mobility when driving for example.

Thanks, yeah the sleeves are on a shorter side, at least it's used jacket and I don't expect them to shorten anymore because of creasing.
Do they look very out of place? Wearing jacket first time they definitely felt short (my other jackets have an inch longer sleeves (25 vs 26 inches) but after few wears I didn't find it problematic to be honest.

Body length and sleeve length are very personal / subjective parts of fit. More than any other aspects of fit I'd say. I'd like mine to be longer personally, especially when driving or raising my hands overall. But when your arms a simply hanging on the sides then visually it looks ok at that length. I would NOT say they look very out of place.

Are you wearing your typical tagged size, or did you go down a size or two?
I know buying used Aeros can vary greatly due to customization.

To be honest I am not sure what typical tagged size would be for me.
I was more looking at measurements of the jacket and measurements of other jackets I have + taking a consideration that I want it bit slimmer because it'd be "summer jacket".
And this one was quite a bit customised - some of it's measurements are similar to other highwayman I had in a size bigger.

Previous administration Highwaymans were fits one size smaller than the current one. So the old 42 is now the 40. Very difficult to find out which is which on the used market so go by the tape to jacket measurements.

Stock sizing is shorter thats how they designed it, I had two stock sizing before custom the third one, just added one inch sleeve and torso. The stock sizing were fine, but I've always felt they were a bit short in daily wear. But the way your jacket fits now is fine, nice t shirt fit.

Very good fit, IMO. Camera angle etc. may be deceiving, so you may want to try to get photographed by somebody else or use a timer, but from what I see you should be happy.

Thanks, you're right about camera angle.

Some photos I took with a timer quickly, but with a sweatshirt underneath as I was walking out and it was damn cold.
Turns out it was perfectly wearable with additional (granted thin) layer.

Don't mind the cargo pants - they were without a belt and they were riding down significantly, I am not worried about that in the context of jacket itself.

This isn't true, sizing on the Highwayman hasn't really changed for 30 odd year, same patterns being used now as the 90s
