First time ribbon change

This is my first ever attempt at doing a ribbon change so be honest but don't stone me!

This is Deelovely's Akubra leisure time After having me tighten up the pinch she decided she wanted a more fedora like ribbon and bow. So I ordered some ribbon from Todd's costumes, Yes the indy ribbon, and it seemed to go well enough. I also wanted to turn it into a more feminine hat so I put the bow on the right side and tried to get a little creative with the center of the bow.
I will have her post a pic of her wearing after she gets home.
Well anyway here it is:

I love a lady in a fedora! I wonder if a quarter inch thinner ribbon might look better with that crown? A charcoal gray might create a softer look than black. Still, it looks great as is! Nice job!

I like the new pinch! Something about the bow though...... don't know enough about hats to put my finder on it? It just doesn't look right and I don't know why? Anyone?

lol lol
i think for the ribbon maybe the knot thing ma jig is too tight for the width of the ribbon so it really stands out, and i tried something with it so it kinda starts out fat and shrinks toward the back.[huh] :)

Indycop, Great job! As far as your creative approach to the knot is concerned, the real test is not, "Does it look like all the others I've ever seen?" But rather, "Does it look like it was done well?" Here's what I think: :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Well, yes, but I brought it back the way it was. The problem is when I put a tighter pinch in it it made the forward part of the crown lower. (?)

The face of the hat looked more like a pyramid than what I was after. It didn't work out like I had hoped..... (sigh) on the good side, The original pinch came right back so at least I didn't screw up the hat! :eusa_clap

I have a lot to learn yet.
