Well it didn't stay longer than about 5 minutes after falling, but we had our first snowfall today, and possibly there's more for tomorrow morning. Bit of a cold snap which is hitting here but I love it!

Had me scared there for moment, but then I saw NORWAY. That's pretty much normal for you, right? Where I grew up, in western New York State, the earliest I remember having snow was Sept 21st, 1956, but that was a total fluke. The earliest snow that stuck was around Oct 17th. Here in New York City it dropped from about 80F three days ago to about 66F now, and will be below 50F soon. Upstate will be even colder. About time.
If you get another dusting, post pix!

Oops.

I'm working in Baltimore and Washington DC this week.

I had expected to be greeted with cool temperatures and packed a fall/winter weight suit. Mother nature had other plans. Baltimore set two record highs. It's cooling off now, and I might still be able to wear the suit.

Fortunately I also brought a summer-weight wool as well. I'm so ready for Fall. I heard this morning that two Colorado ski resorts opened for business; Keystone and A-Basin (Arapahoe had its earliest opening in 60 years).

Let it snow!

Was colder here today, most of the day was at 49 degrees. The high of this week here will be Friday at 60 degrees. Winter draws ever closer...

Sounds like we're colder than most here at FL but then it is Norway!

dhermann, it's actually a bit cooler than normal at the moment, so if there's snow tomorrow I'll try to take some snaps.

Just looked at the outside thermometer, currently 0.8 degrees Celsius (night time here). So there should be a frost in the morn.

NO!

It's too early for snow. I havn't even had a chance to enjoy Autumn. The temps are starting to drop here but the leaves havn't even started to turn yet. But it is a reminder that it's the time of year to start putting up some jams and preserves for the holidays.....hmmm.....snow....*sigh* where does the time go?

Well, around my parts people played golf well into mid-december last year. Snow timidly started to fall around new-year's eve.

We have mist here this morning, and there's a good chill in the air.

We don't often get snow in Cornwall :( which is a shame because both of us love it, cat is not sure not being old enough to have seen real drifts - we had a few flakes last year but he wasn't keen.

The other year about six inches fell in an afternoon and the whole county came to a standstill - people abandoning cars by the roadside, having to stay overnight in offices, kind of thing.

There were thousands of trees badly damaged because tons of snow landed on the leaves and bent the limbs down. They're still cleaning up the mess. Wouldn't you know, there are people robbing the public till by sending in bills for clearing dead trees that they didn't clear.

Yep, there are . BUT, on the flip side of that, a lot of people have banded together to find some good in what's come to be known as Arborgeddon.
