I think you can get away with a little oversized shoulder width if your leather is thick and stiff, as it won’t droop over your shoulders looking sloppy.

A slightly oversized shoulder can also look good with supple leather (imo). This is Vicenza leather, 19.7 shoulder (while most of my jackets are 18')

Perfect first time, well done. I have a Shackleton made from battered steer and I’ve often thought it would be a great material for a full jacket, it’s so soft and easy to wear.

Useful to know... is your Shackleton leather on the back as well? I've got my eye on a couple of options for a 'sleeveless Summer jacket' with a Shackleton, and am considering all-leather. I was thinking of goat (hopefully black goat is still available), but battered steer looks great in brown...

I think it will be hard to get a slimmer fit in this jacket bc of the the pattern it uses. Kind of like how you can’t get a tapered look with the original highwayman. You might want to look at Thedi offerings as they make patterns that are more slim than what Aero uses.

Certainly true that not all patterns fit all bodies - or personal tastes. If the slim-fit look is desired, it definitely is best to seek out a model from whatever brand that actually provides the fit desired rather than trying to wear a "too small" version of a boxier jacket. I learned this myself on cheap jackets, fortunately, many years ago! I'm sure back in the 'anything goes' era, we saw one or two real monstrosities with a HWM base before somebody thought to order a cafe racer with a shirt collar. Not the fault of the original pattern, just that somebody had tried to spec it into what it was not.

No the backs wool, it’s just a standard Shackleton. Goat would work well too. I haven’t worn mine for over a year now that I think about it, time to put it into the roster so I’m not tempted to sell it and then spend the next few years wishing I hadn’t. The battered steer I have is super light, it works well.

definitely not trim to bash the guys jacket

Thanks for posting again. I was not trying to bash your jacket or fit I'm looking to size down or have a slim fit and I guess having trouble relaying this to aero.
I really don't understand how your 42 has a 19" shoulder and the 40 I am in the process of starting has a 19" shoulder.

Another example of why I will never understand Aero sizing. I owned an Aeromarine in size 40. I got it from their sales page, it was made for photography purposes. It measured 17.7” in the shoulders.

I originally asked for front quarter hide, However they mentioned the word Drape and that was it. they make it in a thinner leather for the design

Like others already suggested, Thedi has some nice slimfit cossack designs. Very well made too. You won't be disappointed :)

Thedi gets down for sure, I contacted the company in Seattle to actually go try the jacket on, However they don't do that anymore. I'm not going to start sending jackets back and forth trying to find the magic size. What if they send one and I send it back get a bigger one then want the smaller one back and it has been sold? very very slim chance that would happen, but what if?
I am hoping that aero will see where I want to go with my jacket sizing. This is a friends mister freedom campus size 40 sleeves are a tad long But I want an aero battered brown with drab olive stitching. sorry its sideways

lets see the jacket.

As I said, I owned an aeromarine. Sold it a while back, so I can’t double check the measurement but have to go by my old notes. This is what it looked like

Honestly though, I wouldn’t be that hung up on shoulder measurements. It’s the least important of all the jacket measurements. I’m a size 40 and I’ve had jackets in the range between 17.5 and 20 shoulder measurement.

Hi , here’s a photo of the shoulder width.
It’s actually closer to 18.5” with a straight tape. Hope this helps.

this version is more workwear than thedi's, the sleeve is very workwear like type2 sleeve big spread to the side for ease of movement, I think it looks better when the shoulder seam is worn bigger so the sleeve is hanging better, my cossack have similar style sleeve and only made from brushed cotton, still when new it looks messy near the armpit since I bought it following how trim it should be on my chest, I see if I buy it a size bigger the shoulder would be droopier, the whole fit would be boxier, but the creases near the armpit would be less. His jacket looks good fit wise for this model, I don't understand the buyer's remorse

I really like the cossack style jackets, and I think the slash pockets are a good call. I keep looking at the Einstein and Mr Freedom Campus jackets, there are interesting similarities and differences in the various designs. I think the leather and fit are great - well done and enjoy!

A word from behind the bar: OK, folks, let's keep this on track. Not everyone is going to love every product, opinions will vary, and that's fine, but please let's not keep raking over the same ground over and over when a solution has been presented and remains unexplored - for the sake of fairness to all concerned.

As you were.
