How'd it all go for those of you with fireworks displays, amateur or pro?

Here, we have our downtown fireworks display put on by the Fort Worth Cats minor-league baseball team. They shoot them off from their home of LaGrave Field, the classic ballpark just across the Trinity River from downtown. As a result, there are plenty of spots to watch from downtown, and since I live there it's an easy walk.

My favorite spot to watch the downtown fireworks from is the north lawn of the Tarrant County Courthouse. This is the northern edge of downtown, right on the river near the convergence of the Clear Fork and West Fork, right where our city was born as a frontier fort. It seems appropriate to celebrate the birth of our nation from the place where our city was born. The north lawn sits in front of the courthouse, built in 1895 and one of Fort Worth's architectural masterpieces. The courthouse sits on the high bluffs of the Trinity, sitting at the terminus of Main Street with downtown spreading out south from it and the Paddock Viaduct (built in 1914, the first reinforced concrete arch bridge in the US to use self-supporting steel) crossing the river to the north. Where Commerce and Houston Streets wrap around the courthouse to become North Main and cross the river via the Paddock Viaduct is a gap in the trees of the bluff that is perfectly situated to view LaGrave Field and the fireworks.

Someday, I'd like to be able to observe Independence Day fireworks from an aircraft (safely) above the show. All those lights below'd be one heck of a show... especially on a coast-to-coast overnighter...

Unfortunately, our show was rained out.

I just stayed at home, but having moved recently from an area that has a firework ban, into unincorporated county area (where they are legal), it was quite a site last night. Plenty of neighbors setting off big stuff, and a nice view of across the local valley, were you could see perhaps 15-20 personal displays going off at all times.

We went into Portsmouth OH to spend the evening with our daughter and her family, played with the grandkids. It rained pretty heavily at times. We walked to the floodwall to watch the show, which was shot off from a barge in the Ohio river. The rain came and went, then stopped just long enough for the show. It started almost immediately after the finale.

Wasn't that impressive of a show, but was better than nothing!

I was on a balcony at the Hyatt in Cambridge, overlooking the Charles River and the Boston skyline. Unfortunately, our view of the fireworks was obstructed by a building. Luckily, the entire side of the building is made up of linked balconies, so some of us just climbed around the divider walls to the 2nd balcony down from ours, an unoccupied room, and a perfect view of the biggest fireworks display in the country

After all, it's not really a party unless you're breaking some rules!

Unfortunately this burg has a childish ban on safe and sane fireworks instituted by the then hapless Mayor Dave Karp, who died while under investigation for tax evasion. Now, the hapless Mayor Tony Santos sits with his binoculars trying to locate who has fireworks. It's really ridiculous, but the man is a megalomanic.:rage: So I looked up in the sky and saw fireworks that are banned throughout the state, not safe and sane kind.:rage:

I saw the DC fireworks with my girlfriend and her family from the roof of the American History Museum.
It was a lot of fun.
