Not my size. I’m a small. If you do stick around you’ll hear me complain enough about my size. I’m a like a 16 year old kids size with the mind of a 34 year old adult male. It does not make getting new jackets. I do ok with vintage as people were smaller back then. But anything after like 1970 it gets harder and harder to find used in my size.

@dannyk

There is a small on eBay. Looks to be in like-new condition. He's charging a bit over the retail but its been up for a while so perhaps you can negotiate. Let me know if you went through with it. curious.

Yeah I’ve seen that one. I want one. I want one bad. But I’m not going over retail on it straight up. I would consider that cost since it’s a limited buy and that can lead to over retail costs. But only if I could knock a good junk off the cost with trades. A lot of people you’ll also find have been screwed on eBay. There’s a lot of double listings from Japan that you can get cheaper going through Japanese auction sites if you know how to use them. There’s been a somewhat recent thread here you can find all about how to use them and good ways to do so. I prefer trying to sell and trade here because there’s no fees and people know the true worth of their objects and don’t jack up prices and will make trades. We openly negotiate here and help one another out, or make deals on shipping costs. eBay it’s so much harder to do that stuff.

That said, I have only seen one person -- @A-1 -- successfully accomplish this.
Even A1 failed to accomplish the 'one jacket and be done'. I'm pretty sure this is an Eastman Thunderbird I'm seeing here :)

Good luck. 100 made. probably, what, 20 in each size? You're probably dealing with supply and demand here however, who wouldn't jump and negotiate to get their money back on a > $1000 purchase they made years but actually didn't need. Money returned after 2 years w/o it is like new money all over again. lol.

I've been buying/selling on eBay since 2001. Out of thousands of transactions I've had only a few that required grieving to eBay or PayPal about (make sure to buy through Paypal, I'd advise). I've always gotten my money back though sometimes it means making a direct call and speaking with a rep and some lingering headache from time wasted/spent.

Anyway... its not my business to try to convince someone to do something. Don't know why I always do that.

Peace to you.

I don’t mind. And like I said I get that they are limited and I get that people want something in return. But what I’ve learned in this jacket game is that it’s like a car. Could be brand new but you drive it off the lot it’s already lost value. You’ll see these things listed then listed again because they don’t hit their mark. I go on grailed and see things listed for like 2 years. Some people will pay. And good for them if they can afford it. I can’t. That’s also part of it and I’m not ashamed to say that. I have my first mortgage on a house we moved into this past year, have work to do on it, a wedding in September, and a dog to take care of. My days of 1,000+ jackets are over for the time being. Unless I hit the lottery haha. But back to my point. I’ve been a member here a few years and collecting longer than that. Even limited runs have a value. Like I said people can ask whatever they want. But what are they actually getting? Did the item even sell? I’m completely ok playing the waiting game. It’s paid off for me many times. So it’s a combination for me of knowing I can usually wait it out for something I want and watching what things sell for not just what is asked. Going places like here or other FB groups and doing trades and waiving shipping; and then currently just not having the money personally. For you I’m glad it’s worked out so well. I completely and 100% believe it. I’m not being sarcastic! Really. I’ve just seen so many things double listed and proxy sellers, that’s what I mean by burned. Not that someone didn’t pay or didn’t ship. Just paying more than then should have. Because of the way people will find a Japanese listing and then list it on eBay, then charge more. Or the same jacket go up for say 1,200 then it’s gone and shows up a month later 1,1000. And the cycle goes on because they aren’t getting what they want. And now I’ve rambled on incessantly for really no good reason-cause I got out of work early and have nothing better to do! Nice chatting with you friend.

If its any consolation i’m in the same boat but a decade older. The only real benefit to it is that most jackets in the classifieds that try and pick my pocket don’t fit.

Very true. We can commiserate together; and then also rejoice in the money we’ve saved from it.

I'd also thought of the IHJ-54 from Iron Heart and really like that bi-swing and ability to move those arms around. It looks comfortable and maybe it would be more comfortable than the trend of vegetable-tanned jackets that have been trending on the retail shops I review.
I own this jacket, as does @Bfd70 (although he is trying to become a former owner as we speak) and I like it a lot. It is incredibly comfortable, felt broken in from the day it arrived. The soft leather as well as a really well executed pattern make it hands-down my most comfortable leather jacket to wear. Another thing I will say in favor of the chrome tannned leather is I’ve worn it out in a couple rain storms this winter and it has held up beautifully, kept me dry till I got home. This is a good choice for a tall person as well since IH usually goes crazy on sleeve and back length.

I have the Self Edge version of the IHJ-54 and yeah its a very wearable jacket. Super soft leather, generous proportions and a really comfortable pattern. There is a chance I may sell mine as well simply because the arm length is a bit much for me but I like pretty much everything else about the jacket.

I'm not a fan of chrome tanned leather at all. With that said, I do think that leather on the Iron Heart jacket is the nicest chrome tanned leather I've handled after trying it out at Self Edge. I personally don't like it as much as my favorite veg tanned examples, but I do like it more than some veg tanned leathers and for me, that's saying a lot. For example, I'd take that IH/Four speed chrome tanned leather over Vicenza.

Don't know why's it shaped like a bell at the front pic when it obviously isn't so.

Reminds me of all of Dehens pictures. Literally every picture of theirs is a bell. I’ve never owned any Dehens but I’ve seen used for sale and people wearing them and they don’t appear to actually be bell shaped. Yet every single photo of every style is a bell. For example these two photos. For some reason no matter what I do it’s not letting me post them where I want. But yeah these two.

Hey all first post! I'm surprised at the lack of pictures and attention of the Ryan from Fine Creek Leathers. I recently picked one up and I really like it and it's continuing to impress me as I break it in. I'll try and post some pics of it sometime in the future.

Yeah their stock photos aren't very flattering IMO but the jackets are cut a little boxy / more room in the mid section. Here's some pics of my flyers jacket. Sorry for the shit lighting, it's raining here in KC. If you don't pull down the bottom of the jacket the elastic bottom can lift up and give a bell shape look like you mentioned.
