Full moon last night or something? I don't know but I don't care for virtue signaling and fun killing. we have to be able to laugh here and be thick skinned enough to laugh at ourselves in the process. I don’t see anybody being hurt but I do see some butthurt moral policing.

As a forum member with a foot in both camps* (though not the bluf camp—far too butch for me) I can’t say I feel particularly offended by the above ‘off colour’ remarks, and I don’t think (nor do I think anyone has suggested) that the jocular squeamishness on display is intended to be hate speech.

I will observe though, that some of the (I can only assume) straight members of the forum seem to be far more preoccupied with male bodily fluids than any gay gentlemen I roll with. If you feel the need to assert your squeamishness every time you see shiny quilted shoulders or boots of over a certain height then you do you, but if it rubs anyone else the wrong way surely that’s a fair comment too?

I must've missed something? I don't think anyone is being disrespectful...a little off color commentary perhaps? I mean the reality is A LOT of what's posted here IS BLUF gear and it's connection to that community is absolutely impossible to escape. I think a little joking about it should be expected and shouldn't necessitate any finger wagging. I don't see any hate speech or discrimination....or I missed it.
He’s reacting to kblake’s comment about an eBay seller as potentially untrustworthy and the follow up remark suggesting the seller may be gay (based on items listed for sale).

I had to scroll back and reread twice to find it.

Nothing against straight people (some of my best friends etc...) but some of you don’t half go on about it. Maybe this deserves a thread of its own where you can all make off-colour jokes to prove to the boys how much you don’t like spooge and let the rest of us discuss jacket listings?

I did not say anything about an ebay seller being untrustworthy or gay. Read (and point fingers) more carefully.

If the staunchest of staunch heterosexuals was a porn star, I’d wash his jacket too. No strange noodle juice for me folks. Haha.

I find this virtue signaling idiotic, not just because I was the last target of it. A good idea to wash used stuff in general, but the idea that it’s discriminatory to be more squeamish about those bodily fluids (whether from man or woman) feels like gaslighting.

It’s basically this sketch.

Red suede Vanson sz40... Might be cheaper on a Japanese site.

I found it, it's listed at $200. However between shipping costs, it wouldn't be a huge saving (ebay listing is $299 shipped and I've had to pay over $100 for proxy services before). In any case, if it fit I would love to have that in my closet.

Ok I’m sincerely tired of this being the Fluid-ora Lounge but I’ll rise to it one last time—surely you understand that the endlessly repeated implication that all leathermen are out there indiscriminately jizzing on their jackets and boots is at best wilfully ignorant (it has been stated already that this isn’t really how the scene functions). People aren’t telling you you have to wear a jizzy jacket to not be prejudiced, people are just saying that the apparent obsession with the hygiene of gay leatherwear is a bit ignorant and borderline hysterical. I’m sure you’re all lovely people but it’s pretty tiresome tbh.

Again, not specific to gay guys. When I worked at a secondhand shop in London, we’d carefully inspect women’s clothing as well that seemed to come from fetish styles. It’s just diligence.

Although I did ask (I thought pretty politely) for a little decent reign in, it appears some folk do like drama. Shakespeare's 'protest too much' springs to mind.

I also asked for no flame war...

Let me just put a couple of things to rest please and then the 'Ignore' buttons can have their day.

I am very sensitive about certain things, sly bullying and prejudice being a no for me.

Maybe some could ask their kids, wives, parents if they find low level racism, sexism, ageism or any prejudice etc. funny and acceptable, and then take a look at their posts (and a good long look in the mirror).

As importantly:

No posts from Ken really entered my vision, I was more concerned about his new conditioner recipe suggestion.

End of

as ever

Oh come on now, I’m not saying you wouldn’t be diligent about any and all fetish-wear but it’s a bit disingenuous to pretend that most of the related joking around isn’t *very specifically* aimed at one demographic in particular. People seem to get a bit sensitive about having that pointed out, but it’s right there in the thread for anyone who wants to read it!

Hope this clears it up. Sorry to virtue signal all over everyone’s fun—just chuck the thread in a bucket of disinfectant and it’ll be right as rain

The only reason one particular fetish subculture is mentioned here more often is because we wear the same kinds of jackets as them, and this subforum is outerwear focused.

If this were a more general clothes forum, I'd be making the same points about other clothes that overlap with fetish wear. It's really that simple, and frankly it's in bad faith that anyone is assigning some kind of esoteric intention besides the obvious.
