The 613US also does not work for me. For me, it is the waist. I have a size 36 1928H that was a right tight fit for me but I was barely able to zip a size 38 613US (or the limited Rosie I can't remember which). It reminds me of the Levi's 70505 old pattern, the extra long sleeves and tiny waist. A pattern that some people like me has to wear a certain way like for example the 70505- roll the sleeves and leave the bottom one undone and only do up the 3rd and 4th buttons. Then I tried a size 36 641 and it looks huge. A fd who is thinner and shorter than me looks quite alright in his size 36 613 Rosie though.

I think Schott Japan has realized that their “613US” pattern was atrocious. That’s why new stock now has the pattern of the 613S instead, except a bit shorter than its US equivalent because Japanese are shorter on average.

Marc’s jacket is on the new pattern and looks great.

@dudewuttheheck I own the jacket that’s in your first pic–the sizing is a bit weird because you have to go up a size (due to the shoulder) and then with the stiffness of the leather it feels a bit punishing at first, and then it becomes extremely comfortable–however, I think your point about the length is valid. It’s not a bizarrely extra-long style like Fine Creek or some other makers, however I think it does assume the wearer is at least 6 feet. That said, the length itself rides up with break in, so that’s something to keep in mind. (I think it would still be too long on you, however you’d fit in another jacket I own on the same pattern (not the awful one Schott Japan developed) but shorter (for the Japanese market). If we’re ever in the same place I can bring it along for you to try.

I agree. It's definitely not as bad as a Fine Creek or a couple other Japanese brands. That's why I said I've seen modern schotts look good on some people. There are some brands that don't make a jacket that looks good on anyone.

I suppose I have to accept that it's at least partly my fault for being too short...

Unfortunately, I have put on some weight and I won't be able to fit into any modern patterns given my height. One of the main reasons I have happily switched to 40s and 50s original is because of my weight gain. LOL.
