I agree on the valuation. Could be a Brimaco. The label outline doesn't rule that out. Aero zippers predate the AERO leather company.

A tid bit of info on Aero here-----in particular---scroll down to the 11th post. Interesting.

40 years of collecting vintage british jackets and i have never seen one like that and they where usually sheepskin, shame no picture of the main zip puller and seeing the makers name on the back of the snaps might give a clue. My incination is leaning towards that being a canadian jacket, read this.

This Albert Richard is very nice! Hercules-type details, I wonder if they were possibly the 1941-42 maker alongside Roughwear.
I was thinking the same thing after I saw this Albert Richard a buddy of mine picked up recently.

His shop is in NJ so I went to see it in person. There’s a little separation of the stitching on part of the wool collar and there’s a full leather collar under that wool. I’ve seen wool/leather reversible jackets with wool body/leather collar and leather body/wool collar but nothing like this before.

I like these jackets but have ruled them out for myself because I feel they run a bit short. I can never find the right size in this model. Even larger sizes don't get much longer in the back. The similar model with the similar elastic design but lacking the large front pockets also runs short for me. Its like they are the same jacket except for the front pockets. People call this jacket "THE WINDWARD" because I believe AERO does a repro of it and calls it that but to me, there are more iconic Windwards. I recall....... @Marc mndt has a very cool one????

LOVE that post on the zippers bro!!!!! Great Info there!!!!

Being in the States I see more Canadian jackets than English and so when its a vintage jacket and not US made, I then default to Canadian made. Very often, its obvious because they'll have Lightning zippers. I don't generally see Lightnings on English jackets---or at least---I never identified them as English. Canada being part of the Commonwealth certainly there likely was/is some shared commerce/trade so perhaps Lightning zippers don't automatically mean CANADIAN MADE. I am pretty sure though that Lightning Zippers are not English--- but Canadian made via a licensing loophole in the agreement between the designer of the Talon zipper and the Talon company. As I recall, somehow he was allowed to sell his zipper concept thru a separate company but it had to be outside the US and could not be called Talon. So my understanding---and I may be putting this a bit too simply---Lightning Zippers are basically Canadian Talons but with (IMO) cooler pulls. @photo2u may be able to shed some light on this topic as I know he is pretty zipper savvy.

The same could be said then for Aero zippers. As you point out they were used on Aussie jackets and likely by other parts of the Commonwealth including Canada.

Aero zippers I believe predate Lightning zippers . So its possible this jacket was Canadian made with Aero English zippers especially if the jacket itself predates the Lightning brand. The maker could well have used English Aero Zips as they may have been the GO TO zipper in the period before Lightning came about.

Just something about that particular jacket that looked sorta English to me........possibly the material of the liner.....not looking flannelish or woolish. I have a couple of unlabeled English jackets that have similar plaid/tartan liner. And as @tmitchell59 mentioned, it does have a Brimaco vibe to it. So you and he could certainly both be correct as at least SOME Brimaco jackets are made in Canada. I am not sure about how the advent of the Brimaco brand lines up with the dates Aero and LIghtning zippers were used but its possible this could be a Canadian Made Brimaco jacket that used Aero zippers because Lightning was not yet established. Aero could signify it is an older jacket. Just speculation on my part.

Brimaco started around 1900.
Lightning Fastener Co. Ltd. Canada 1937
Lightning Fasteners Ltd Birmingham UK 1919, I don't what year they stared producing zips.
Aero, not sure 1939 or 1940?
As you say most likely brimaco heres one with a similar cotton lining.
