Here is another SHORTY :mad::mad::mad:...... As I have said before----These MW jackets all seem to be short but not only that, they seem to be the same dang length regardless of size!!!! Every one I come across from size 40-46 ends up being 23.5" in back length......... Like, were people capped on height back in the 50s and 60s but they could be as girthy as they wanted???? Its odd........

Anyway, nice shape and a cool jacket. Priced pretty ok for the condition and the jacket type etc.

Maybe @tmitchell59 has space for a closetmate to his new MW----CAT's EYE--- I know he could pull off these dimensions. I think others such as @Marc mndt could maybe pull it off too if the EU didn't treat importation of USED LEATHER JACKETS like the importation of freakin Plutonium!!! Pardon my judgy attitude.....but those shipping rates SUCK for our poor brothers in Europe. What is the point of taxing so hard that people just WON'T buy things!!!! Way to spur the global economy EU!!! Not like they are protecting domestic products either!!! The Used Leather Jacket Seller's Lobby in the countries of Europe seems to be very very strong. What's the point!??!!?!?! Next they'll be taxing Christmas Cards from outside the EU!!!!!!!!!!!!! Total BS!!!!!!! [END OF RANT--sorry to offend:cool:] Ok, carry on.......

In terms of body length this one will be easy to pull off since it has a massive 3" front drop. The sleeves are rather short though.

It's not just import taxes. 49.5 cent of every Euro I earn goes to the government in the form of income tax. Health care is fully payed by the government though, so is education.

Personally I didn't make use of Healthcare or education last year. Maybe I should get free leather jackets instead. Can that be arranged?
We in the US also pay roughly 50% in Federal, state, and social security taxes, but we don't get free healthcare or education for that. But we are a world policeman (or were), and we have nice leather jackets. Rant over.

I would say that the average Johnny Sixpack gained at least an inch in body height in past 60 years. That combined with higher waist height pants usually worn back then might help to explain the comparable low back back height of some jackets from that era.

On the plus side though, the jacket does has about a 3" front drop....kind of a reverse mullet. I thought about this one, would fit me, but passed.

Thanks for thinking of me! I already have one, Brent late 50s. I love this jacket. The ebay jacket looks to be a nice one. I am beginning to suspect all MW jackets with this label were made my California Sportswear Co. I just don't know who else in CA would be considered. Block?

You need to propose to the Dutch government -- a LEATHER JACKET EXEMPTION --- wherein you provide them proof that you did not use the Healthcare system or the educational system in the last year and you can import up to 10 leather jackets tax free!!!! See if they go for it........

Seriously though, I was remiss in my rant to not mention the obvious benefits you receive for such high taxes. It is enviable to have free healthcare and free education and from what I recall from visiting the Netherlands, it seems people are pretty well taken care of and educated.

We in the US also pay roughly 50% in Federal, state, and social security taxes, but we don't get free healthcare or education for that. But we are a world policeman (or were), and we have nice leather jackets. Rant over.

You must be in TAXACHUSETTS!! ;) In California, we have high taxes. I have a friend from Mass and he says moving to California was a wash tax wise because he is used to high taxes back home.

"What is everybody complaining about high taxes for???!! Americans have nice leather jackets so what's the fuss about high taxes?????"
- Joseph Biden :p:p:p:p

Sadly, if I'm not mistaken, we are the world champions of taxes here in France. That seriously has to be corrected in the future years.

Just tell yourself France is the California of the EU!!!! We are the U.S. National Champions in taxes here. We are essentially the France of the U.S. Here they are giving all of the tax money to people to keep them from actually working. So just to attract workers for even menial jobs, employers have to offer huge wage increases. Which has played a part in a 7% increase in retail/consumer costs across the board over the last year I believe. So they keep giving money to the people to cover these rising costs---causing the costs to continue to rise----so they have to give more money to the people and so on and so on........ Its really a genius strategy:confused::confused::confused::confused:

I would say that the average Johnny Sixpack gained at least an inch in body height in past 60 years. That combined with higher waist height pants usually worn back then might help to explain the comparable low back back height of some jackets from that era.

This is correct and it could be even more than that 1" in height. Someone posted an article or a spec sheet a few years ago that was taken from the military regarding sizes of men in the armed forces. I don't recall the context of the information but I recall it tracked the sizes of soldiers from like WWI up thru more modern times and the growth in size of the average soldier was significant over the years. I wish I could recall the specifics of this information. It was very much in line with what you are saying. Of course, we, the generation of SAGGY PANTS and RELAX FIT, are unable to properly fit in jackets made for the olden days where the waist of the pants was so high you could reach over your shoulder to grab your wallet!!! :D:p

On the plus side though, the jacket does has about a 3" front drop....kind of a reverse mullet. I thought about this one, would fit me, but passed.

Oh I thought about you too @ton312 when thinking about who could fit into this jacket. I know you are with us in Camp Vintage these days. But I thought it might be too short for your taste (I think you are pretty close to my size) as well after seeing some of the jackets you have bought and had to move on from. I seem to recall you buying and selling a jacket or two.......;):p For me, its the short back length I don't dig. I just wear my drawers too low to pull off a good look. This jacket SHOULD have a decent front drop if its gonna sport a 23.5" back length. Otherwise its a leather waistcoat!!

Thanks for thinking of me! I already have one, Brent late 50s. I love this jacket. The ebay jacket looks to be a nice one. I am beginning to suspect all MW jackets with this label were made my California Sportswear Co. I just don't know who else in CA would be considered. Block?

Honestly, I know this one is a bit run of the mill for you with the collection you have. But I know its in your size range. For some reason, your pics of your Brent did not come through for me on my browser. Please repost them if you have a second--I'd like to see your Brent. I haven't seen a Brent in this style before. Usually they are the later styles as Brent replaced the MW label. Sounds like you may have a very early Brent---like right when they started changing to that label.

California Sportswear Co. seems to have made a number of cool jackets for retailers including the MWs and the Sears Hercules (Styled in California Label), in addition to their own Californian labels. Were these guys in L.A. or the Bay Area???? I've wondered about Block making jackets for others as well. I have seen Block labels that have that same "Styled and Made in California" type of tagline and it just seems very similar to California Sportswear Co. I know Block was a Bay area maker but I thought CSC was out of L.A. Credit to you for connecting the dots on these old makers.

California Sportswear was in LA. Block was bay area. Block is largest maker I can think of in CA that could produce for other companies during this time. Seems too many jackets with "made/Styled in CA" to be made by one company. I do know CSC made jackets for other labels, I have confirmed that with jackets I own. I have not been able to do that with Block. I own one Block that. I have pictures of many, but see almost 0 for sale.

here is the Brent. Looks to be a very similar jacket. Great to wear, but not a big collectors jacket.

This is from the seller who had a fake aero but this looks real to me. I wonder if he just doesn't know what's real and what's not. I bought a real McCoy from him , I should post pictures. It looks very well made.

He also doesn't care, because the fake Aero was relisted, and so far ebay hasn't taken it down this time.

I'm sure some of his stuff is legit, but if he's knowingly selling fakes along with real items, I wouldn't recommend buying anything from him.
