The description from the seller sound like from someone from TFL, lol:

"Vintage Bates Leather Jacket like new! It's been in my closet for over 25 years, I think I wore it once. "

I think is the angle's perspective. This appears as an older style jacket from Cal. Many improvements in the important areas were later adopted. The zips look so very cool. I love that finish on the crowns.

What are the improvements that were adopted as SG became Cal?

Look at the sleeves. Single and simpler to produce. Improvement: double seam with nice leather stitching better end sleeve profile, left upper pocket addition, the improvement version of their snaps locations. The neck gaiter was incorporated in a much better location in my view. Also, the spacing for the belt loops were given a wider separation. For me, I will customize my favorite cal cross zip by adding brass rivets to hold the loops better.
The current bid ($450) wouldn't even cover the cost of those glorious zippers in today's market..............
Yes, too short. You guys should forgettaboutit.

Come on. You really think so? I have many of the #10 in the gray and also in the brownish finish. The gold color often used for the civilian jackets. In true honesty, I find the older Talons just as good. Having using both, I like the talon better. I think marketing and not real field use have influenced some users.

I will be a good sport. If any member of this forum buys this jacket, I will donate some nice zipper's tape to repair the broken ones in the sleeves. Remember this were tools for riders. If you ride and are under 5'8 this will work great! Has anyone asked the seller for the basic measurements? Good luck!
