I am sharing this for those shipping/receiving jackets between the US and Europe. I have gotten four jackets from Europe over the past year. Two I had delivered via UPS and both were delivered to my rural location within a few days. The other two were delivered via services that turned the jackets over to the US Postal Service. In one case, the jacket cleared customs in Chicago and then sat there for over a week before it started moving within the USPS system. Ultimately, it took about 3 weeks to get to me. I am currently waiting on a jacket from Aero. Within a couple of days it was 150 miles from my house and in the hands of the USPS. 8 days later, and the jacket has not moved. Aero used DHL, and DHL is telling me it's "not their problem" now that USPS has it.

The last time I used UPS, it was only about $35 more. In my mind, it was well worth it to avoid using USPS. Apparently the USPS had told vendors that there will be no refunds for purchasing 2-day Priority Mail and the package not getting there any faster than standard mail. I just had a 2-day Priority Mail package take 15 days to get to me from the West Coast.

Considering the costs and hassle to have jackets shipped from overseas, for us european it could be nice to have a sub-thread dedicated to finds and deals in europe...

That CalfSkin Topline looks sooooo mint!!!! Obviously that "Olympic" ring pull is special. I have yet to find a SportClad in like a size.....46 or so. Seems like they only go as big as 42............ These 4 pockets are all really cool. But that CalfSkin looks unworn. Also, you don't see CalfSkin every day. A unique distinction.

Man Terry!!!!!!!! Its crazy how many of these really cool true vintage pieces have passed through your hands. Basically, its like.......if one of us owns a jacket that we think is cool and Terry HAS NOT ALREADY OWNED AND SOLD IT, it might not be that cool after all.........Lol. Similar to when someone says, "I've forgotten more about [insert any subject] than you'll EVER know!!!" So true.

I'm glad that you are active in this thread because while its relatively easy for us to post cool finds/deals we see across the platforms, sometimes there is limited knowledge and context about a certain piece. You can swoop in and add the facts and history of some of these jackets while many of us are just speculating on age, makers etc. We all try to fill in the blanks as best we can but Terry is the Vintage Master!!!

I am broke sitting in my pIle of jackets. Think I will write a book. Poor man's guide to vintage jackets

I know what you mean Terry....... Strangely, this hobby is attractive to even new generations...... You gotta get a book out that further romanticizes the Vintage Leather jackets so that there will be a future market for all of our Hoardings!!!! :)

My friend has two pre teen sons that have been climbing the walls at home during Covid. Somehow, they have found their way into American War Uniforms and these kids have gone to the ends of the earth researching this stuff and buying dozens of items of clothing, old rations, bayonets etc. You never know what part of the past will be sought after. If there is nothing there to read, the knowledge is lost. You have a lot of knowledge to share and a book would be a great and probably very enriching project for you. I think you'd be surprised at how much you could put down on paper once you start unboxing all of your knowledge and organizing your jackets to write about them.

I’ve been through this a couple of times lately and resolved not to use the USPS until they get straightened out. They even advised the same.

I had jackets sitting for over 3 weeks without moving. The best they could tell me was that it would eventually get to its destination and to just be patient. There wasn’t a way to get out of their system even if I drove to their processing center. They are in trouble for several main reasons. DeJoy had them take out sorting machines (won’t get into why here) and due to covid, the USPS was required to give leave but they also couldn’t hire. They’re working on skeleton crews in many places. People just call out and there aren’t people to pick up the work. It sucks and I feel bad for the employees but I won’t be shipping USPS for a while.
