I'm tempted. The chest is a little large, but a six inch taper is pretty significant, so it might result in a good looking V shape. @Jin431, were you thinking the sleeve length was longer than 23" based on the pictures?

I'm not familiar with these patterns but people mentioned before how the bottom hem can tighten up with the side laces. I'm just guessing because if the back length is 26" then the sleeves would not go past the hem if the sleeves is only 23".

the bottom of the so called "beaver tail" (I think Jmax coined that) is a good 2 inches longer than the true spot of where it sits on your body. So it's probably closer to a 23 or 24 in length. I think 23 was standard and 24 was long size if I recall.

Cals (at least the 4 I got) aren't known for long sleeve length. They all hit me at wrist bone or even less. I'm 6'0 for reference, average size arms for my height. So if I had to guess, I'd say the sleeve length on a 42-44 size is probably about 24.5 to 25 max. So that one might be a little less. With the curve of the sleeve, the break in and creases, depending on how exposed it was to elements, don't think you can get an accurate number of what it was, what it is, and what it will be.

We're still in Canada with another Cal, size 38 this time. Midweight leather, #10 zipper replaced, without outer nor inner damages, all intact belt loops. At $150. Seller does discount if you save this as favorite!

Thanks for clarifying info on this, I want to get a Cal like this someday. So very cool to see and I'm sure it will be delightful to wear.

I hope it works out for you @Kubatu. Or someone here about the same size.

Thanks for sharing this, if this was slightly longer in the sleeves and body length I would have gotten this guy.

np. Love all my jackets and that's why the closet is quickly filling up because I don't want to give any of them away. But any time I wear any of the 3 (soon to be 4) Cals, it's a whole other level. I can't describe it. It just exudes the essence of bad assery. The cut and fit is something else. For someone who doesn't ride, I feel a little bit like a poser, but I swear when I wear one of them, I walk 2 inches taller, more pep in the step, and don't mess with me sort of vibe. LOL

Like I said in other post, sleeves are going to be short. It works though. And body as well will be short. But since there's no belt, unless you add one, it stacks nice with some mid cut jeans and Iron Ranger style boots.

So I'd say go for it if you confident on the chest size. And even that is iffy. The 4 I have range from 22 to 24 and they all fit kind of similar except the 22 which is on the edge of being too small.

Hmmm got the same problem but i moved a few jackets recently so theres a little space for new jackets which is welcome lol

I definitely feel the same way, it's like getting mana from the previous owner of the jacket. I've only worn the Cal I got from Dan a few times but it's always been a feel good moment. All my other jackets are pretty much made to order and they look better fit wise but those old jackets have a certain presence to it for sure.

I'm good for the shorter body length but I got really short arms so I will probably need it shorten too lol same boats nothing beats the classic look and top it off with service boots

The one I have has a 22" chest (22.5" if I stretch it out) and that's too large for me but that won't stop me from rocking it. I am in search for a Cal cross zip now but won't say no to another straight zip Cal lol

Golden Bear for Gustin Cafe Racer with a low start price. The chest seems a little large for a M. This could be a nice jacket if the price doesn’t go too high - but I bet it will. I sold my five year old L1 for close to what I paid new.

Didn't know Golden Bear was the actual makers of these jackets for Gustin. I liked the look when Gustin first announced them but all leather products I own from Gustin are pretty badly constructed so I steered way clear. If I knew it was Golden Bear making it I may have been more interested at the time.
