many thanks. this was helpful. I got excited for a sec when I saw a reference to Toyo which is the parent company of some of those higher end brands. But it's not clear if there is in fact a relationship. $400+ is too much of a risk. You can buy used Vansons and Schotts in that range. But yeah, they do market the jackets well with the info about the tanning, etc.

For sure. I just bought a used Vanson in immaculate condition for under $400. But these new pictures from reb_bel are intriguing. Wonder if they are moving more into production. Asked for pricing and will update when I get it

That's so cool looking. Langlitz is pure awesome. Any idea if that is horse or steer?
Not sure. I have heard a lot about the quality of Langlitz’s leather selection, and this jacket definitely bears it out. However, I do not know how common it was for them to use horsehide in the 1980s.

^^^. Langlitz jackets in HH are hard to find. Most of their stuff is the beautiful cow (which I would guess this is) or their stellar goat. I had an early 50s Langlitz. One of the most beautiful jackets I ever have owned. I was sure it had to be horse given the age, etc. Incredible and “real” teacore. When I sent photos to Langlitz to confirm, they said definitely cow. Haha.

All that to say— maybe it’s horse. But I would bet cow. Great jacket and ridiculous price. I’m jealous.

nah, it's a proxy listing. Multiple people offering same jacket and trying to play the margin game (i.e. buy from Japan at X price and sell to you at Y price). Nothing wrong with it per se, other than you're not buying the jacket directly from seller and the obvious, you can probably track down the original listing yourself and save the margin up charge.
Could be wrong, but this looks more like an ebay seller making a noob mistake to me. Why have a low reserve auction, if the goal is to make profit off of margins? Why have two listings of the item on the same account? Most margin sellers on ebay also have Japan as their location, more feedback, obvious copy pasted descriptions with broken English, etc.

[Edit] - Could be a throwaway account I guess, but it's also been around for a while, and I'm not really seeing the angle here if it's a scam or a drop-shipper.

[Edit 2] - Heard back from the seller. They're legit. Just new to selling on ebay, and I helped walk them through ending the extra listing. Also got out-sniped on the auction in the end, but c'est la vie.

No doubt about how good looking the leather on your jacket is. I also don't think it matters what kind of hide it is because the quality of the leather is just surreal.

Got it. I hope to see and handle one of those older goatskin jacket, or maybe a really nice veg tanned goatskin. The chrome tanned goatskin I own/owned is nice but it doesn't look/feel special to wear so I feel let down by goatskin. I'm sure that's because I haven't seen a good example yet.

Unlabelled, and the (only) two photos aren't great, but might be a Fidelity... $20 + shipping. Info from the seller:

Please note these are all Roughly measurements.
If I had to guess on the age I would say late 80’s early 90’s jacket. There is a Talon Zipper. No age anywhere or size.
Arm Pit to Arm Pit - 21
Bottom collar to the back (end of the jacket) 25.5
To the bottom of the jacket the seam part - 25
Collar top part to the bottom jacket 27
Bottom with 20

Thanks for the replies with info about the Langlitz. Sorry for the poor lighting in the first set of photos. I was trying to take them at night. Here are a better set taken in daylight. You guys have me intrigued. Is this a Cascade with a modified waist or a Columbia with a Cossack or racer collar? Fit pics coming soon... View attachment 309167 View attachment 309168
That's a Columbia with a Cossack collar. Nice!

I contacted them about getting a horsehide tea core type 3 style jacket. They quoted $580. Needless to say, I haven't responded. Still trying to figure out what the deal is over there.

I'm not sure if they make their own jackets but I thought they are a re seller? I think it was discussed before that some of their items are from taobao or some other web market? I'll give it to reb bel that they know how to take great photos for advertisement

yeah, their IG is killer. Ok, I think I got them confused with the Omega one that I see on Buyee. That one for sure is manufacturing jackets because what they do is you do a BIN, and then 4 weeks later they ship. Those run about $400 plus all the shipping, so figure about $500. They claim Italian horsehide, 1.4mm thick, yada yada.

So Rebel is more of a middle man buying jackets and then reselling? For some reason I thought I read or at least had a preconceived notion that jacket knock off China was going to cheap LOL.

I don't frequent buyee so I'm not familiar with omega. Is omega a Japanese company? If so then that might not be a bad deal but then again it's an unproven brand here in the TFL.

I'm not in the know but that is what I understand from when it was discussed months back. The reb bel quote was much higher than the actual taobao price so yeah it's a middle man kind of deal but maybe I'm wrong.
