Yep, that's the one you bought from me. I seriously rarely ever handled such quality, not to mention the jacket was an absolute beast. Hide was reddish with black finish. It was brand new, too. 42 in Branded was much too large for me but if it fit, I wouldn't have needed another jacket, ever.

Yes. It was a beauty. Heavy too, 7lbs of leather bliss, according to my spreadsheet. The 42 fit me spot on. So, like some Vanson, they do run big. Someone won’t be disappointed, especially at that price. Pretty sure it’s still in the TFL family somewhere.

edit: I just saw Casechopper’s post. Glad to see it is still around.

I am pretty sure I sold it to Kunja. If you got it from him then it is definitely the same jacket.

I don't understand how is this so cheap. I had the same one, Vanson quality or slightly better even with much nicer hide. Someone from the UK should get this immediately and without thinking about it.

Appears to be a Vanson Comet in excellent shape. Wish it was a larger size.

Most Vanson and Schott on Yahoo Auction are from size 36 to 40. Lot of good deals for Vanson or Schott but rarely any for Lewis Leather or Langlitz.

That's a great deal for a Branded jacket. They make real heavyweight jackets, and I've always been wanting to try their police jackets. I'd snap it up if it was my size.

SMOKING deal for that jacket. Someone will be stoked. I haven't seen many Branded Uniform jackets at all. Very underrated maker. Most all of their stuff is heavy, well made, and just very very reasonably priced. They deserve more respect than they get IMO.

So I bought it! Probably some sort of weird scam. The seller's account was created in 2021, and has listed nothing else. Either way, etsy has buyer protection and I used paypal, so I'll be fine. But maybe I'll actually get the jacket?

That's weird. Mintvintage66 is a well know legit seller of course. My best guess would be that someone simply took mintvintage's photos and created a fake Etsy listing. This fool must not know about buyers protection.
Or the winner of the original ebay auction had no use for the jacket and decided to sell it on etsy but he forgot to add a couple of zeros to his asking price.

Would appreciate your thoughts on this Bates jacket. I've tried searching the board with limited success.

Is this a desirable jacket as Bates jackets go(let's say on a scale of 1-10)? If so, opinions on the pricing? Any idea how old this might be?

Coriu, looks 80s to me. I've had my share of Bates including this model in particular. I really like these jackets but personally can't stand kidney panel which is large and thick. I don't ride btw. You can find this jacket but made without panel. If I find one in 42 I'ma buy it ; ) Leather on one's Ive had was great to look at and not particularly thick. Kinda' drape-y actually. I've never paid more than $250 for one but I've never been hot for one and just had to have it. Modern Terminator Bates seems to be made of way more substantial leather IME.

Deal made off eBay I guess. Happens a lot. Saves some money for both parties. One less thing to worry about!

And then you get played by the seller and you're put of luck because no protection for the buyer. I don't recommend that at all just to save some fees...

This seller has had this jacket listed on local German ebay for some time. I offered him 550 (net) but he stayed firm at 600.

BTW, he gave me different measurements:
Ptp: 55cm
Back length 61
Shoulder 47
Sleeve length 63

I have a 1950s Campus half-belt in a sort-of cordovanish-colored steer, with an otherwise identical design (front & sleeves). Solid. The lining of the listed one looks to be in excellent shape, and I love the back & sides. I think I'd trade mine for this one if it were bigger.
