Went to all of my antique haunts in search of some to-be jacket today. A few years ago there was a store with a few Schotts and Vansons, among others. Couldn't find it for my life. A mirage?

I'll post pics asap, might take a few days so I'll better quote you again.

I gotta check on the nipped waist. Mine starts with a form-fitting chest, so it doesn't feel roomy. I'm 37.5" chest, 30" waist and I generally need to cinch the side straps of a standard pattern Aero 30s HB like two thirds (if size 36) or all the way (if size 38).

So I would say the non-cinchable Levis x Aero Rockabilly needs a trim fit from the start to feel well-fitted on an athletic frame. The current Rockafella on the other hand works pretty much like a regular Aero 30s HB except that you either use the one extra button to nip in the waist, or you don't. Nothing in between.

The armskye feels similar to a standard Aero 30s HB (30s HB, Sunburst, Dustbowl, all of which are the same basic pattern). Maybe a little better but not as high as the Premium 30s HB.

I agree with Aero's assessment that the Rockabilli/Rockafella pattern was probably meant for textile jackets only (whipcord, cavalry twill or other hardwearing stuff). Originals of a similar design turn up every now and then, sometimes two-tones as well. But it does wear nicely in the shape of a softer midweight leather such as the one they used for the collab.
Rabbit, did you get a chance to post pictures of your Rockefella, and thanks a lot for the input on fit. The Rockafella just looks completely out of the box from other Aero's jackets and the elaborate front and collar looks great. I really wish they could switch up the collar shape on other HB jackets from time to time.

Werkin' on it. I'm basically either at work or exercise or recuperate from either. But working on it.

I agree about the Aero collar choices. I'm a great fan of their work and I love wearing these jackets, but it seems to me that many of their models just consist of basic patterns that are put together in different combinations of a few select collar styles, certain back panels and certain front panels, rather than one-off designs that are unique to one model from top to bottom.

It's the same with Aero construction (stitching, folding) of their civilian jackets. Same construction no matter what decade. Practical and highly durable, yes. Variety, less so.
