As the seller states, it has been altered. The size (XL) is roughly a 42...
The bottom has been shortened. There should be 2 buttons, and that stitching isn’t Thedi’s work. The sleeves have been shortened as well. If the measurements work, at the right price- give it a shot.
Also buttons appear not to be original. Regarding alteration - these jackets are designed for athletic build (broad shoulders, (very) slim waist). Someone took an XL and shortened the jacket and sleeves to accommodate the build.

These jackets are B-grade stuff that I believe Lost Worlds at some point gave away for little more than free. I'm guessing these are only very roughly put together test samples or something. Just look at those wide tunnel sleeves; these jackets very clearly are not up to LWs usual standard and better be avoided imho.

The buttons are original. It matches the ones he did for Epaulet. My issue is the stated heft of the horsehide...not the usual supple stuff he uses.
Amazing that it was found in a thrift store!

Good points. I'll keep it in mind when bidding. Thanks!

Ok. I compared the buttons to those on Thurston site and also in the dedicated FL thread on this jacket.

Good eye. The bottom button and side adjusters are aligned right at the hem, which makes the jacket look out of proportion.

Another thing that caught my attention is the seller's statement that he "thrifted it locally." Someone donated an expensive Thedi to a thrift store? It's possible but seems too good to be true. "It feels like it may have been altered at some point." My gut tells me there's a little more to the back story on this jacket.

It does appear that the hem was cut off, removing the bottom button, to shorten the jacket. It's tagged XL, but the seller estimates it's a size S, which he thinks is a 38-39. I took out my own Thedi Shawl Collar (XL) and took measurements to compare, and the P2P is about the same, but the hem line is about 2-3 inches shorter than mine. Sleeves are about right, but possibly an inch or two was taken from them as well, and the cuffs re-attached.

I really can't imagine someone doing such an alteration to a jacket, but it may be that they tried it, didn't like the result, and didn't think it had resale value any longer, and donated it to a thrift store rather than try to explain to someone how the butchered jacket was somehow still worth hundreds of $$$. Even if the work looks like it was done professionally, personally in my opinion the jacket was ruined by this alteration, which should not have been attempted. (Better to order one made to measure for the wearer's spec.) But that seems to be the most likely explanation of this jacket's history. There's also the matter of the 5" seam repair needed in the lining.

Exactly.

Or, the seller had the botched alterations done for himself, didn't like the result, and just wants to unload the jacket under the guise of "I thrifted it, looks like it might have been altered, gee I really don't know much about this stuff."

I'm calling BS.

Vintage Cal-Leather Highway Patrol Motorcycle Jacket With Fur Collar Mint https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/153570388585

Perfect condition, can’t get much better than this.

I bought another Cal from this seller. We ended up texting about jackets, music etc. Cool dude. He is very open to offers.

Agreed.

If there's a brand that's worth it, that's CAL. If I had truckload of money, I'd honestly get into collecting CAL jackets. The CHP cross zip. I've got just one but it's possibly the most impressive jacket I've had.

Yeah, I have to be careful not to end up like a certain Cal collector who roams these parts. This one certainly is tempting though.

Oh man, that's a nice Cal, and it would fit me. Except maybe the sleeves are short for wear with gauntlet style gloves, maybe. But it isn't in the budget right now.

I will be checking eBay every 3 hours until it is sold.
