Dude is nuts for that kind of money for a campus jacket. I love these and having owned one myself…it’s $250 jacket at most. Mine was black. My favorite pattern. Not very well made.

Agree with all the sentiments of this jacket being grossly overpriced for a Campus missing a main zipper. @ton312 I think your Westbury you got from @rockabilly is a much more substantial jacket in a very similar style. The main style difference being a diagonal left upper chest pocket vs. a straight horizontal on this Campus.

As @Guppy rightly points out, the Main Zipper replacement necessity greatly lowers the value of this overpriced jacket as is. I wonder what a Main Zipper replacement done right would cost in Italy????? I wonder if the costs of such repairs in Western Europe are much lower than in my area. Could be that kind of repair in Italy is no big deal to have done at a reasonable price.

I have only handled 2 Campus jackets but they were both fairly unimpressive. I have seen a few here and there though that looked cool and interesting.

There's a taubers on Vinted for €190 but I'm sure they'll take €150 as it has been listed for ages. Ptp 20
Not nearly as nice as the horsehide one though.

As a Taubers watcher through the years I see very few of the orange label Taubers cross zips. Their whole line looks modernized with the orange label, they moved to Cow/Steer and don't even mention the leather type. The teardrop Talons do say 60s, but I'm thinking these Orange labels are mid-late 60s. Remember that Taubers was advertising jackets in 1984. That is a 40 year history as Taubers was formed around 1941

I found a picture of a Goatskin Taubers recently. There are also Deerskin and Suede Taubers out there. Interesting company.

Here is my most current find, it’s a Mr. S Leather jacket. On 9-2-21, JMax and I were going back and forth about a (Mr. S) listing that had questionable measurements. At that time the seller wanted $900.00 for the jacket listed. I texted the seller and posted his response here on the Lounge. JMax said “Though Mr. S jackets are pricey, they are exceptional”!

After hearing that (they were exceptional) my search started. Like you I’m always on the lookout for quality leather jackets as other’s here on TFL. I was informed of the kind of items that are sold there, however I am on the biker side of leather products. According to the seller he purchased it 15 years ago and hardly wore it, and has no use for it now. The jacket has no labels anywhere on it, not even the store label.

I was just wondering who made this jacket? Thru my investigation I was able to find that Tauber’s made jackets for “Taste of Leather”. Another San Francisco shop but nothing for Mr. S. I was able to find on e-bay a person selling a Mr. S catalog from 2003 which shows the jacket. According to the catalog it’s called the “Marquis” or an L-200. It states “The jacket is made in heavy 3.5 ounce cowhide, etc. I do have a photo taken from the catalog however I don’t know it would be allowed to post? So the question I have is who made this jacket? My fellow loungers have superior knowledge in this area and I hope someone here could answer my question, Thanks

The jacket looks like Al's. The right pocket and sleeve end are tails of their way they put the jacket together.

I love "TFL" this website. Every week I learn something! I am very grateful to the members who post here! I know I speak for many, thank you for your response and knowledge and the education you give myself and others.
