Interesting how this jacket used side zippers to tighten instead of laces. Effective but might be a bit expensive. This jacket must be a higher priced model in its day, it has more details than others. Unfortunately the belts were cut off right?

I have not encountered another jacket maker using this construction. At first I thought it was a non-original but then I found another. Both of mine are unlabeled as is the current ebay jacket. I have pictures of this style with a "made in Californian" Montgomery Ward label.

Yes, it would be more expensive to add two zippers.

This has the belt attached. All I've seen have a light weight lining. Yes, they are short

These jackets are late 40s early 50s.

That horizontal upper right chest zip is different for a cross zip style. Being a 40s-50s vintage maybe they carried over this pocket style from more highwayman type styles?? Though you do see variation in the pockets on CZs, this one you don't seem to see. I am wondering if it was like a remnant of other styles that just faded away with the evolution of the D pocket etc.
