I love these ELMCs from the front, but not a fan of the Californian from the back. A little too rigid and square feeling for me. Never been a fan of the action back. Took me a while to even come around to some tight shoulder gussets. But this looks like a good deal, especially if you can knock off a few more bucks. I think I'm a 42 anyway, so may have dodged a bullet.
It indeed has a very square back design, which does has its charms imo.

yeah, I can definitely appreciate the style. I prefer a more flowing style I guess. But no doubt it's a solid jacket. Beautiful leather and cut. Yours is a 42? I think your Roadstar is 42, no? I was so close to buying that black one few weeks ago, but the bidding started getting too crazy.
Yep, both my elmc Californians are size 42 (I also own one in black)

Exactly my thoughts- not exactly wild about action backs, although the front is beautiful. (Although, I suppose I'd never see the back when I'm wearing it.) Very tempting.

I think @ton312 just sold (or at least listed) an AR in the last week. It was a Car Coat/Surcoat if I recall.......... I have seen some nice ones from that brand. I've never had one so can't attest to the quality or anything but they look to be nice true vintage jackets. Not knowing much about the brand, I don't know where it would fall on the hierarchy of vintage jackets but usually when I see them, they are cool.
T’was no car coat English, rather the most splendid Halfbelt I’ve ever encountered. It’s n it’s way to Marc as we speak.
