I have never handled a Branded Garment jacket so can't comment on that.
What i like about this specific Vanson you posted is the fact that the hide itself is a light brown/beige rather than the classic blue/grey that i usually see.
My 90s Swedish rider Vanson is like that and it is very nice leather. It is the only Vanson i own that is "teacore", it's not something you see everyday.
It's really not a massive difference, but it's a little detail that i enjoy. But really i have a Vanson "problem", i currently have 10 and am always on the lookout for more...
@Carlos840 Thanks! 10 is a lot! I "only" have one (Comet Octagon)

The branded is very nice, but I would get the Vanson. In addition to what Carlos said about the leather, I like the pattern and design better.
@JMax Thanks! Yes, I also prefer the Vanson pattern/design over the Branded but I like the Branded price more ;) I guess the Vanson would allow me a bit more layering than the Branded (just a thin t-shirt) if the measurements are correct.

Just a quick note on Yahoo auctions Japan through Buyee.

Most of the Japanese jackets there aren't really deals per say. But I always see killer deals (many times around the $200 mark) on Schotts, Vansons, Lost Wolrds, Langlitz and sometimes Aero.

I know a few of you own, or have owned, this jacket. Any idea as to what to expect for its measurements? Thanks.

42 fits me perfect at 6'0 and 185 lbs, 42 chest, 33 pants size. It's a 22 ptp but with really smooth gussets, so is not tight at all. Probably one of my most comfortable fitting even though the specs are the smallest.

Monitor has the 44, although technically we discovered his is probably the Beck but pretty much same jacket without the wind flap.

Super heavy Vanson C2 from the 80s/90s in perfect condtion....I'm starting to cry as ~320€ seems to be a reasonable price IMO.

I posted this earlier. It was on Japan Yahoo. I think I said something about being one of the earliest numbered jackets. It had a buy it now of I think $400 if I recall on Buyee, so would have been about $500 with shipping, fees and all that.

Most of the older Vansons-- C2, Enfield, Model B-- go for about $350ish and then again you need to add about $100 for all the shipping, fees, yada yada.

I got super lucky with my Enfield and got it for $250 and confirmed it was made in late 2000 (serial number 50k). So this one probably made 1984 since that's when they started numbering if I remember correctly.

I think I saw this one too. The problem is the measurements listed. This is why buyee can be dangerous. The shoulder size is listed wider than the chest (what they call width). And I don't think there's a way to contact seller, get photos, etc. to confirm what's going on. Also it's listed as "C". B is your typical worn in but in good condition older jacket. C is going to have something else going on with it. Could just be patina, scuffs, etc.

Edit: other thing I'll add. This is the seller I bought my Vanson from. By far has the best prices. It's a second hand store. They have hundreds of jackets. The potential problem and you'll see the bad reviews, is sometimes they'll sell the jacket locally in store. So you bid and win and then you'll get a notice about it being out of stock. Didn't happen in my case but you can see the high amount of bad reviews stating this. Still worth a shot though if you see something you like.

*Can't wait to see the Two Tone J23 - that deserves it's own thread*

And yes your sentance here is one we all ought to consider. Anyone thinking of going into business perhaps?

^^^ WOW!!! That's an eye popper right there!

Yes, tripods are great. I still have no specific lights, but that's the next step. I tend to rely upon sunlight. Great day to take photos of jacket -- but no jackets to take photos of for me just now.
