Financial irresponsibility, in the guise of a Stetson!

So yesterday morning, I get this call. It's from a fellow Lounger (thank you Brooksie!) telling me that there's this store. They sell antiques and the odd bit of vintage clothing. And there's this grey hat there, box and all. The tag says "3/8" only, and the liner says that it's a Steton.

So, against my better financial judgment, I wandered on over there. Two minutes of poking around and I see it. A bookshelf or curio cabinet or something like that, with a hat box atop it. On the box, there's a little stand, and on that, a hat. Sure enough, it's a grey Stetson and it's marked "3/8". So I plopped it on my head and 'lo and behold! A 7 3/8!

Needless to say, I walked out with this under my arm:

As normal, the colours aren't true to life. The ribbon is reasonably accurate, but the felt is quite a bit darker, sort of a shale colour.
Not NOS (the sweat is stamped "WDH" and there are strips of felt behind it), but pretty darn close!

My credit card hates me now.

Nice lid you've got there, too, Justdog! I'm stoked: I frankly never expected to enter the ranks of Whippet ownership.

tonyb: Some might bristle, but really this is only irresponsible on account of my current state of employment (or rather, lack thereof). At any rate, I might as well have stolen the thing: $65 for the whole deal. The only thing that concerns me is that this is about the fourth steal I've gotten since being turned loose by my former prison maste-err, employer
