Hello friends - some of you may know my preference for Cockpit USA jackets. I have their plain non-patched “Mil-Spec” G-1 jacket which is one of my absolute favorites to wear.

I recently purchased another same one used off of eBay since I wanted a patched one to wear. My favorite airplane is the F-14 Tomcat and I really like the Jolly Rogers art and patch designs, hence the Final Countdown theme. I wanted to share my idea with the flight jacket community/my fellow flight jacket enthusiasts to get some feedback on what I have in mind.

I borrowed the following pictures from @GregGale ‘s older posts. I am thinking of patching the extra jacket almost exactly like he did. The differences I have in mind are to do an American flag patch on the left shoulder and to not install the name-tag with wings. I would just install the velcro loop patch in the nametag’s place. I would only attach the name-tag for a costume party/Halloween. I am also leaning towards keeping the Fighting 84 squadron patch on the right chest, but feel not quite 100% from an overall look standpoint.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing anything resembling aviator wings as I am only an aviation enthusiast and not a pilot, much less a naval aviator, not have I served in the military.

Any recommendations for exact positioning of the patches (e.g. distance from the shoulder seams, zipper seams, etc)?

Any thoughts on modifying @GregGale’s layout like I specified or thoughts in general are super appreciated! I would hate to have them installed and then undo some of it leaving stitching holes exposed.
