Some styles just work with certain looks. For example double rider jackets look amazing if you have long hair. It really suits the style.

yeah, I do think that style suits more a guy with a muscular physique somewhat like myself
Muscular or athletic guys can pull off virtually any style, look at Terminator 2 for example.
What matters more than the style is the pattern really.
See the thing is, a lot of people on here complain about jacket fitment etc, but don’t realize that sometimes the jacket style doesn’t go with their bodytype. This is why I think off the rack sizing works better for these people. Sometimes I think it’s better to go into the place and get measured by the maker. I mean, these jackets ain’t cheap. It’s such a gamble. You send your measurements, details and it’s still not right. Some people get lucky though.
Good point, it can definitely be a gamble. What I have found out is that the general pattern is quite important. A well made jacket will fit quite a variety of body types, and will easily fit you if your own weight varies by quite a big margin. Problem is figuring out which makers have the best patterns when you are new to the hobby.
It is always much better to go physically get measured, try samples, etc. At least you can visualise better how you will look in your chosen jacket.
Agreed. It’s an expensive experiment. Yea Greg makes a nice jacket, the build is of good quality, but does the pattern work? Does he have experience in tailoring? I mean companies like Aero, Johnson etc. have been doing this for YEARS.
All I can say is that I tried getting one of his jackets early on and it did not work out for me, neither did Aero in fact.

The level of 'tailoring' these two companies do is worlds apart.
I agree. The best method is to get a fit jacket, but that has its problems as well. A fit jacket should mimic the material of the final product. Reason is you can’t really go by the fit of a canvas jacket. It’s a totally different material than Leather so the way it hangs on you will be different and there may be some areas where you’ll have fitment issues. Thurston Brothers does it right they send you a fit jacket in basically the same leather as the final jacket. This is the best way to exactly get what you want in my opinion.

Find an Aero Board Racer size 44 or 46 to try on to see if you like that pattern first. There are a lot of similarities between the two, at least that's how they felt to me. You can always change armholes down but above armhole stays more or less the same unless you go to a totally different pattern base.

My personal experience with field leathers was and is outstanding. He really goes the extra mile to create a great jacket. The only thing you should know is that the wait time is often longer than calculated. But even considering this I am more than happy with his work. It is just more likely that people will write about their experience if it is negative.
Like what, 2 years? There are some things that came up in this thread that turned me off from the company, including the ridiculous wait times.
