For those of us that started with Schott jackets with a square back, this is just amazing to know it possible for a jacket to be this fitted

I know what you mean. Once you start with high quality jackets/shoes/ .... there is no going back.

There are more than a few pre war jackets that had the half belt back with waist cinch and some sort of map pocket or later known as D pocket up front. They just weren’t so “D” shaped until maybe the first Hercules. TMitchell has quite the collection of those in the vintage thread. Worth checking out.

Long Story (with pics!)

My Field Leather story started when Greg's lead time was still within 4 months. It was a two tone aniline Shinki Manhattan. I've heard Greg's jackets fits smaller so I went with size 42 instead of 40. When I got the jacket I was very impressed. It was by far the very best top stitched jacket I have. I am not talking about high stitch counts, but how close the top stitch is to the edge of the fold, thus creating a very fine bead, very luxurious.

Unfortunately my first FL Manhattan didn't work for me in terms of sizing. Here is the sizing measuring photos of that size 42 Manhattan:

For the longest time I was quite confused and had a Love and Hate relationship (in my head) with the FL brand based on my first Manhattan experience. It was the finest jacket I have but I didn't enjoy it. Blinded by frustration, I blamed it on pattern and grading. There is actually nothing wrong with Greg's pattern or grading.

Luckily, the Leather Gods threw me a bone. An Aviator Manhattan in one size up popped up on Greg's sale page. I was hesitant at first because of the published numbers. But once I asked for nape measurement I knew it'd be fine.

Speaking of side adjusters, they complimented this jacket perfectly giving a perfect fitted look without that skin tight look.

I’d like to see a shot of this open if you ever think about it.

I prefer the side adjusters as a visual gimmick. And it's optimal when I don't need them at all.

Ofcourse you don’t need them, you don’t have an ounce of fat on you

I hate time to decide but I’m either going to go with the side adjustments or if he thinks I can get the shape right for my body type then I will have them on the waist more as a decorative feature but possibly if he is willing try to do a little V shape cut on the bottom hem where the adjusters go so I can bring it in or out depending on the shape I’m in.

got into the high quality handmade boots, I don’t know if my wallet or wife could handle it.

I feel like I missed the whole cheap Indonesian boot train, they were propelled into the main stream by the online influencers. I’m still searching for one with reasonable prices but I’m not sending $800 to Indonesia knowing they were $200 2 years ago, fame has its price.

Try some spanish brands. I love tlb mallorca. They are around 400 euros and have great looking boots and are high quality.

Beautiful, do you have any suggestions for anything less dressy?
I was going to buy a pair of Grant Stone because of the look, Leather choices and prices but I’m not sure on the quality. I don’t expect any shoe to last forever though, so I try not to spend over $300 and that’s pushing it.

When I had a use for dress shoes, Yoox has amazing deals on Santoni, Giovanni Conti, Sutor Mantellassi and others.
Great for white sneakers too, I recently bought a pair of Angelo Pallotta shoes for like $90 on sale, made in Italy same quality of Common Projects without being $450. Which is just crazy to spend on sneakers

Grant Stone are excellent quality. Probably the best out there for the cash.

Personally I've never been interested in car coats and I don't think I ever will.

But look at the execution of this one. Perfect for showing off Greg's amazing skill as a machinist.

I love the look of those Art Deco buttons. I sent Greg NOS 30s buttons for my latest project and he liked them so much that he had a company reproduce them in black and brown.
