Been there after kitchen knives lol

You guys had me laughing so hard... I would never have imagined anyone knowing so much about jeans cos
I'm the sort, that buys n wears whatever I think feel looks good, feels comfy and not once have I ever considered the rise or much else.
I learn something new everyday and I thank the guys on board for educated me in selvedge denim and leather jacket.

Hey handymike,
To be honest I won't be going there anytime soon cos I made a similar mistake 2 yrs ago when I got curious about vintage shaving gear.
I told myself I want some vintage gear cos all this Gillette fusion crap was getting ridiculously expensive and my shaves were getting from bad to bleeding face bad. It's in the name of saving money I said.
I've 2 dozen vintage straight razors, 30 or so double edge razors and 1/2 a dozen or so whetstones
So handymike, I ain't going there NOOOOOO lol!
I fell down the same rabbit hole about six years ago but I got out pretty easy compared to you. I have a Feather stainless safety razor that I use to shave with my Feather blades.
I wish I could say the same about leather jackets, started hanging out around here almost 5 years ago and the rest is history...
Heh.... it's a bit of an occupational hazard round here! In my case, learning about waist-rise and such was a huge eye-opener for comfort; I'd always as a kid avoided Lee after a late-eighties discomfort with a pair that must have been aping the fit of 501s around then. Then when I first tried on a pair of 501s....so disappointing! I later learned about rise and what caused a 'waist'band to feel far too low....Haven't looked back. Only problem is you do get picky....
The thnig I discovered with DE wet shaving is that you can recoup the start-up costs within a few months and then it's all save, save, save on DE blades vs cartridges.... as long as you don't fall for the PRETTEH HANDLES!, or it can get much, much more expensive!! Ha! Mind you, with four or five handles and not having bought one for a few years now, I'm probably still ahead of what I'd have spent on cartridges had I stuck with the Mach 5 / Fusion, and it's a vastly better shave.... (Still got to use a cartridge on my head for the angles, but I ave a nice handle for Mach 3 blades, and bulk online they aren't too badly priced).
Here are a few quick'n dirty fit pics.
Basically it's a great jacket. The leather is a dream and the workmanship is world class.
Unfortunately it is 2 cm shorter than I would have liked. This happened due to a misunderstanding in communication and the usual tolerances of 1/2 inch.
So something that I should have considered better with the dimensions.
It is only 2 cm, but it does make a difference visually.
With the rest there is absolutely nothing to complain about.
So I'm torn right now and don't know if I'm 100% happy.

Fit is great imho. You'll learn to appreciate it being a bit shorter. It doesn't balloon as much when sitting and it looks way cooler when unzipped.
My issue with the jacket is the pocket placement. I would want the chest pockets a tad lower, maybe 0.5", and the handwarmer pockets like an inch lower and maybe slightly more angled. But ey, that's just personal preference!
Did anybody use and keep kamisori?
Yeah I forgot to say, I didn't actually take pictures of it zipped up cause it was pretty warm today, hahaha...It looks great. Over a sweater the sleeves length will be less of an issue (although I'm quite happy with what others might term a more 'Willis' fit [Google 'Willis Surrogates Jacket for example]), although it looks as if the weather is being too kind where you are for layers!
So I bought the sample HB in Black Cowhide and just received it. I don't have much experience or much to compare it to (only my Tenjin is even in the same realm), but I really love the paneling and design, and the stitching is amazing for a quick mockup/sample.
Unfortunately, the sleeves are too roomy and long for me. Still, it was a sample and bought for basically pennies, so I'll make do. I really just wanted to support someone who's trying to do big things. It also has the original old logo Greg drafted up for Field Leathers, so it's a pretty unique piece.
I'll probably order a custom/MTO jacket in the future once I'm more financial assured. I don't think anyone who orders one from Greg will be disappointed. Best of luck to Field Leathers!
The jacket looks good on you and why not shortening the sleeves, because I don't think that they look to baggy on you but tastes are different. Also good to know that quality seems to be good (as good as Tenjin).

The Michigan in olive I really think looks outstanding.

It's strokes for folks. If it was discounted and a nice enough thing (which it is), I'd forgive the length and wear it too big. I've found that when people get used to someone wearing something over time, it comes to suit them -if informal- unless it's hugely oversized or too small. With suits and formal overcoats, I need a proper fit, but leather isn't an exact science for me, so I'd still wear that Fields, no probs vis-a-vis length. Everyone's mileage varies on this. That's some look, oversized and 2" too long sleeves lol.
Something I doubt most Europeans or for that matter me, would consider ever wearing.
What I appreciate most about Greg are his designs and colours. Like Thedi, it isn't the same ole same ole, take the Michigan for example.
I can't wait for this damn bug thingy to be over with and for everyone jobs to be ok then, we can start getting stuff again in moderation of course lol.
Sounds about right, 3 - 4 cm should do the trick.
