Fiberglass lampshades?

Bartenders, feel free to move this if it's in the wrong place. I couldn't figure out where else it should go!

Has anyone here ordered repro fiberglass lampshades from a place like Meteor Lights, Moonshine, or Deadly Nightshades? What was your experience? How was the quality and service?

Deadly Nightshades also has by the yard fiberglass and make-your-own kits for shades and sconces. Has anyone ever used the kits or made their own? They say they include instructions on how to dye the fiberglass - I'm curious how complicated that is!

As for Moonshine they were wonderful to deal with, my boyfriend revamped some old lamps for me this Christmas with the Mabel shade. They came packed well and the quality is very good. I would definitely go back to them if I needed any more fiberglass shades.

Given the prices of the repros, it might make more sense to get vintage ones, no?

Edit: ok, that was unhelpful. A friend of mine got shades at Deadly Nightshades and is very happy with them, though she...now wishes she had bought vintage ones. However, they do match her decor nicely.

Not necessarily. I'm looking for a very large hanging shade and I would be unlikely to find one on Ebay. I'm also looking at sconces, and I've never seen fiberglass sconces anywhere. At least getting a repro, I can be sure to get the size, style and color that I want.

If you want specific size/color and you want them now, then I would think that getting repro is your best bet. Vintage shades are getting harder to find in decent condition and who knows how long it might take you to find them. I have heard good things about deadly nightshades but have not ordered from them myself.

I don't think it would be hard at all to make your own shades. Sounds like it would be a fun weekend craft activity to me!

Definitely, for these kinds of things you'd have a hard time getting originals. Silly me assuming you wanted table lamp shades.
