USN N-1, by At The Front. Very nicely built. But I have no comparison with other repro such as RRL or Buzz. The rubber is not hard, but because it’s thick, new, & layered on top of the veg leather sole, making the whole boot bends with challenge. The first few hours of walking you feel like walking on wood, but it complies better after the first day. Not sure if this is how it was back in the day.

SM Wholesale Service Shoes.

These are nice boots, but not as nice as I hoped for. Maybe my expectations were a little too high. Had to replace the laces with the ones pictured as the originals were ugly.

Soft toe box?

Picked up these boots yesterday. Really wish they fit me. Very thick, sturdy leather. Possibly horsehide. They really don't seem to have been worn a lot. I googled what I could on Gorilla Shoes, but I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on a timeframe for these?

Thanks,
B

Soft toe? So, can anybody recommend a good way to search for soft toe lace up boots? Ebay sucks at this, everything has steel toe! I once bought two pairs of some 50s "outdoorsman" brand, green colored boots, both soft toes, very nice, the leather has that sheen/plastic finish to it, but that was it. I saw some similar plastic finishe leather lace ups of other brands, but they all have structured toes.

I have the exact same pair. Every other brand i've owned has been a labor of love for the first 3 months. When i bought the Wolverines they were so comfortable out of the box that i chose them as my only footwear for a weekend in Manhattan with only a day or two break in. Walked up and down the avenues for 3 days straight without so much as a hot spot. Don't know what it is, but they've nailed it. I'm honestly not sure why I buy other boots.

These are really good looking boots! Do they have the same kind of sole as the iron rangers?

Thanks man! No, the sole was improved, as it's all-black (more dersirable), plus they have a traction sole. I think they're (RW Harvester boot) only offered for the European market, so they're not readily available in the US.

These RWs after about two or three months:

By the way, talking about “break-in”, I would never buy a pair of boots that doesn’t fit me from the first moment perfectly fine. I would never never wear a pair of boots that I have to break in for months and have blisters. I don’t think you shouldn’t either as this is a torture for your feet which have to carry you for the rest of your lives!
I only have boots that I can put an insole in and wear with thick socks very comfortably. All of my boots I could walk in 6miles without any blisters or anything else from day one. And they are still comfy after years of wear. Got lots of different brands and it’s all the same procedure, whether it’s Alden, Viberg, RW, John Lofgren, Chippewa, Thorogood or Oak Street Bootmakers.

I just had to say this as I think it’s false info to tell people to torture yourselves for months and then you’ll get a comfy boot. You probably have destroyed your feet in these months so much already, these boots can never make it up to you.
This is my personal opinion after over a decade in nothing else but heavy work footwear. I don’t wear sneakers or anything else. Just boots.

With you 100% A-1. Learned this the hard way and swore from then on, the boots had to fit and be comfortable, from day one, or they don’t go home with me.

Btw, have the same RW heritage, Moc Toe boots. Love them! Got mine in ‘copper tough.’ They are wearing in well!
