Ok! Now I remember seeing this beauty. To best establish (and verify) a date on your own, the red-lettered labels under the sweatband need to be revealed just a bit more. So to not damage the leather, a small mirror can help to see the whole tag(s), then take a picture. That way you will have some photographic verification of the tags and then the era of manufacture.
