I've done EMS standbys at some of those medieval fairs - I seriously doubt you would be the only Gandalf present! But I bet your hat brim would be bigger than the rest of them.

I've been on several and never seen anyone as Gandalf nor from LOTR.

Went for a walk in the snow through the local forest preserve this morning. I slipped on the ice patches from last night's ice storm and fell on my ass a few times, so I cut the trip short.

Followed by a private camp out by decendents of Partisian Rangers overnight "hiding out" in a barn as they often took shelter offered from friends.

On past campouts we have often been visited by "Gen. Lee" come morning.

Mariposa Mining Museum

This is the southern end of the Mother Load country from California’s gold rush. The area was once part of the John C. Fremont land grant.

I *LOVE* early California history. These pics were taken at Mission San Miguel, about 10 miles north of Paso Robles (Central coast). This mission was founded in 1797.

It’s good to see Father Serra and the missions of California being re-evaluated. Although,, it’s not always fair to make moral judgements of history using modern sensibilities. The history of the time is indeed fascinating. I spend every Easter in Moro Bay and I love the region.
