Salami, or salame in Italian (according to Wikipedia) as we do it is all beef, not yet dried or cured without refrigeration. Slicing and grilling it over high heat adds loads of flavor, helps to cook out a bit of the fat, and adds carcinogens where charred. The salami slices are on the far left side of the grill surface. Absolutely delicious, loaded with stuff our doctors don't like.

A gig with this Irish band I play with turned into a family trip for the weekend and a three day celebration of my son's eighth birthday.
The Lead opera house near Deadwood is one of my favorite venues to play-- a burned out gold rush era building in very slow restoration. I brought my falcon park along although didn't get any pics at the venue, just at 1880 town on the drive home.

Also at 1880 town (I think most buildings are period, and were transported here for the tourist display), my son drove the mule buggy with the help of this ole cowboy with a sweet topper.
Funny thing-- I remembered running into this guy years ago at a gas station off the interstate and asking about his hat. I asked again and he gave me the same response as last time:

"I got this hat in Prescott, Arizona, and I wear it while riding my bike. I always tip it at other riders in the road, and they always wonder how it stays on my head. I used to staple it on.."

SUPER photos, Jeff! Good thing you didn't try to get an interior shot of the topper. No telling what could happen when trying to remove it after all these years. Eew!

My favs are the Conestoga skeleton, and the view of your boy and driver. What a fun day!
