So, in the spirit of a triumphant return, behold the sights from this fantastic fall foliage from around MILLBROOK, NY. My mother-in-law was moving from a senior community there, "The Fountains at Millbrook," giving us (most likely) our last visit to the area.

It's a secret Hollywood enclave. Don't tell anyone!! Driving along the country roads and suddenly a fence and gate can appear (that probably costs more than my home!) that reveals the fact that somebody of substantial means lives there. Bette M. and Liam N. were two that were mentioned. Sshhhhh! If you're interested http://www.departures.com/articles/taking-a-tour-of-millbrook-new-york

The Fountains is located on the grounds of a former boys school. The Chapel...

One of the very modest gates...

An autumn town common.

Puttering along...

Sure is pretty this time of year!

Flashback from 1969...

On the way home, bringing it all back to HATS! The (one time) hat CAPITAL...

Oh, yeah; a hat! I was wearing my Dove VS for this trip of peace...

Thanks to all of you! I just received a phone call from friends traveling in the same general area, and the "experts" all agree; we in the northeast were treated to a spectacular season of color this year.

Beautiful pictures Charlie! My wife and I were in Boston this time last year. Such beautiful country. Those pictures sure bring back some fond memories. Thanks for sharing!

Lol, I still show that picture to anyone who hasn't seen it! We'll be back that way in the next year or so. We loved it. The only reservation my wife has against moving that way is the winter weather.

Thanks again, gentlemen. The most common adjective this season seems to be SPECTACULAR, and that's no lie! The colors have also been jaw-dropping, breath-taking, possibly even mind-bending. Bottom line: a BANNER year of Fall foliage around here. Easy to get great photos.

I remember a few of those years when the fall colors were mindbending. Thanks for taking me back, Charlie.

I took in some of the Giants-Cardinals game today over a pastrami sandwich and a Blue Moon ale at the Double Play Bar and Grill in San Francisco. The place opened in 1909, and it's across the street from the former site of Seals Stadium, which was the first home of the Giants when they moved west from New York in 1957. Joe DiMaggio started his career in the minor leagues there, and the great Willie Mays played two seasons in the park before the city of San Francisco opened Candlestick Park in 1959.

No place for the hat except my head.
