Downtown Lisbon is nice to visit. There are so much things to see.

I wanted to go to a monastery located on top of another of the "Serra de Sintra" peaks but because of the fog, we quitted. People says the view from there is fenomenal.

Hospital? You doing ok?

Yes. I'm fixing my teeth in the hospital, already removed all broken and damaged ones. Now it's "cleaning" time. I could go to a dentist but I cannot afford it and because of SNS (national weath system) I can do it for free (my income is lower than the minimum wage). Just for the record I would had spent more than 1000 euros to fix all my teeth.

And the ridiculous "Old Time" photo my wife insisted on....

They're gone (out of the nest) before you know it... But that give rise to opportunities for surprise, like my weekend, where ALL three offspring, with NO significant others showed up for a couple of days. I was shocked. Excited. Scared. Above all, delighted!! Wearing my Panama Hats Direct Special Reserve for the special event.

Half way to the Algarve for some beach time.
"Porto Covo" with the "Ilha do Pessegueiro" (Peach tree isle) in the background.
Don't be fooled by the name of the isle... there is no trees there.
Both beaches are well known in Portugal.

As posted above, went to a weekend in the Algarve, the south region of Portugal.

Went to see a folclore festival in "São Bartolomeu de Messines" were some friends perform. This is the only occasion I see a lot of people wearing hats (mostly black hats) from fedoras to wide brimmed hats (some with 5" brim) with low crowns. Believe me, my "modest" Billy Kidd was the biggest crown hat there.

^^ A group from the Canarias islands, mostly fedoras.

^^ A group from the Tagus south bank near Lisbon. They wear 5" brim black hats. At first I thought those were cheap wool but they are not! I believe they are made of FEPSA felts.

^^ This is the main group of "São Bartolomeu de Messines". Hats are mostly 4" brims low crown.


Next day went for my first ocean bath in "Manta Rota" beach and wore my Resistol shantung straw George Strait western. No wind, the sea was flat as a swimming pool with no one inside...

In the afternoon before retuning to Lisbon, stopped to visit a friend. This is like 10 kilometers from the beach.

Never seen this before in Spain... and I do know it is not sold in Portugal. Looking to try this
The Old nº 7 is 5 euros cheaper in Spain than in Portugal...
